Medications that cause RLS?

Can anyone tell me what medications can cause RLS? I was in the hospital a few weeks ago and was given Phenergan. About 8-10 minutes later I had what was perhaps the worse episode of RLS I've ever had. Are there any other medications (especially over-the-counter medications) that can cause RLS?

Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Medications that cause RLS?

For a complete list, try Southern Californa Restless Leg Sipport Group.
They offer a ******** card to alert medical personel about your condition and the possible side effects of commonly use medication.
Here's a good portion of the growing list of medications that RLSers should avoid.

ANTI-NAUSEATES: Benadryl, Antivert, Atarax, Bonine, Compazine, Phenergan, thorazine, Tigan, Trilaton, Vistaril, Reglan. Suggested alternatives: Kytril, Sofran

ANTIPSYCHOTICS:
Haldol, Loxitane, Mellaril, Motan, Navane, Prolixin, Risperdal, Serentil, Stelazine, Thorazine, Vesperin

ANTIDEPRESSANTS:
all can cause worsening of RLS with the possible exception of
Remeron, Serzone and Wellbutrin

ANTIHISTAMINES:
Benadryl and OTC/Rx combination cold/sinus/cough medications:
Actifed, Comtrex, Contact, DimeTapp, Triaminic, Theraflu, Vicks cough syrup, Tylenol PM, Exedrin PM, Bayer PM.

Hope this helps.
