| Restless Leg Syndrome
I'm writing right now (early morning) because of a mild bout of RLS. I've been away from home for over a week and it began last night. Unfortunately I didn't bring what I need to treat the problem ... Magnesium suppliments, but I shall raid my daughter's cupboard for high magnesium foods. As well as consuming magnesium suppliments for some years now, most days I very finely grind (coffee grinder) 2 tablespoons of flax (linseed), 2 tablespoons of sesame seeds and one tablespoon of pepitas, then either combine with cereal, add to smoothies or a salad sandwich. It must be fresh ... not ground ahead of time. Taking it two or three times a day is better giving other health benefits as well. Often I eat pepitas as a "dessert" after a meal or add to a mixed salad. One can search for "food high in magnesium" where there's good information. Those seeds I eat are mentioned. Magnesium is essential for contraction and relaxation of muscles, and muscle spasms. Suppliments without the seeds is enough to keep my legs pain-free provided I take the recommended dose although I prefer to have both. Flax is also good brain food, and along with sesame seeds is a high source of calcium. As for the pepitas/pumpkin seeds, their health benefits are priceless.
