About a year ago I started experiencing constant 24-hr./day nervousness in my legs, too. However, I don't have any pain, which is a good thing for me because I'm diabetic...so I don't think it's neuropathy. The only way I can describe it to my doctor is like this: My legs feel like they've run a marathon. They are jumpy, twitchy, very nervous, and they feel like a wild circuit board. I've tried Motrin, elevating my legs at night, warm baths, etc. All of that helps only slightly. My doctor has just prescribed for me Ativan, which can be prescribed for: treatment for anxiety disorders and panic disorders, treatment for muscle spasm, treatment for seizure disorders, treatment for alcohol withdrawal, and treatment for insomnia (short-term).
Like I said, I feel the "wild circuit board" 24 hours per day, but mostly at night because I'm laying still and not moving.
Let me know if your doctor has prescribed any medication for you for this problem. I'd be interested in that.

I came across an article on Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS). I realized that for the last few months I've also noticed I've had an occassional jerky leg, as described with RLS.
The articles I've read also say that a person with RLS will also get a pain, tingling, creeping, etc. feeling in the leg. But, I'm not sure it sounds exactly what I am feeling. The coincidence of my jerking leg makes me wonder.
My "tingling, pin and needles" feeling is constant, 24 hours a day. It's as if my skin is hyper-sensitive. (Hot showers reduce the feeling slighly.)
Is this 24 hours a day feeling associated with RLS? Or, should I assume it is just a coincidence? |
