What kind of tx's do you guys use for RLS? - Restless Leg Syndrome Message Board

I was wondering what kind of tx's are used for RLS. I have not been formally diagnosed but I am almost certain I have it. Usually at night when in bed my legs ache and they jump and I just can't seem to get comfortable. Sometimes it is so bad that I kick my husband all night. So, some help in tx's would be nice. Thanks in advance.

I have had problems with restless leg syndrome for years. Recently, my doctor told me to drink some tonic water that has quinine before I go to bed. This really has seemed to help. Apparently the quinine has a calming effect on the muscles. It is definately worth a try.

I take magnesium, folic acid and calcium before bed. RLS and PLMD can be aggravated by a deficit of these substances. It seems to help, but my PLMD always gets way worse in hot weather regardless of these supplements.

Hi. I have suffered from RLS for years.It does indeed get worse with age and can effect your arms and spine as well. I have been taking Sinemet (generic is levadopa/carbadopa) with great success. I take a dose an hour before bed and another dose right at bedtime before the symptoms start. It will hold me until about 2AM. The symptoms will wake me and I then take another dose. I occasionally have to take a dose during the day if I am going to be doing alot of sitting.It has been my lifesaver. I have lost alot of sleep walking the hallways at night trying to relieve my symptoms. Anyone who has a doctor who make light of these symptoms needs to find another doctor. RLS is no joke and is very unpleasant. I hope this helps
