Advice on Restless Leg syndrome - Restless Leg Syndrome Message Board

Hi there,

my first time on the board, was wondering whether anybody could offer some advice.

My symptoms are a feeling that insects are travelling up and down my legs. I also get some stabbing pain occasionally in my spine and also tingling in my arms. I have no idea why this has started or when it will finish. It seems to be worse after sugar or alcohol and at nightime.

Does this fulfill the definiton of RLS?
If so is there anything I can do to get rid of it?

I read that it may be related to histamine release. I have also just finished a long dose of antibitoitcs for a parasitic infection that may be connected.

Any views on this greatly appreciated.

My RLS does not feel as though there is anything on my legs, just an uncomfortable feeling that makes me feel like I need to stretch or kick them. Never been very good at discribing it. Much worse at night or anytime I am cooped up like in a car for long trips. Comes and goes and seems to be worse when I'm under stress. There are definitely things that aggrevate it also.

If you read the posts here, you can find various things that have helped relieve some of the symptoms some of the time. I have not heard of a cure as they have very little understanding of the cause.

Jewells you were spot on I too have to kick my legs and shake them and stretch them with thos same feelings which wake me. I also get a bad thigh pain too which is a real bummer.

Restless leg at night can be alleviated by going off caffeine. My friend went off caffiene and the problem completely went away. Good luck!

I have the restless leg syndrome and i took get the imaginary bugs bitting like ants and there are times its worse but its daily. its a bit better on the meds but never goes away and I have had this about six months mine is related to peripheral neuropathy from diabetes.
