Gluten and RLS
Been away from this board for quite some time, but thought it was time I was posted. My husband was diagnosed with sleep hypopnea and RLS several years ago. He sleeps with a CPAP machine now and his sleep is so much more restful. But the RLS is always there. After doing much research, we have discovered two things. If he does not eat any gluten, his restless leg syndrome is not there. We have been doign this for several months now, and it just does not appear if he stays away from the gluten. That is not an easy task either. But it is do-able. another thing that he uses on occasion is L-Tyrosine, an amino acid. If his legs are bothering him, he takes part of a tablet, and within 15 to 20 minutes, he can feel the leg restlessness disappear. The
RLS is still there, but the tyrosine stops the movement. Either way, he is so much better off than he used to be.
Just my two cents worth!
