Unhappy doxepin and rls
I am being tapered off clonipin and onto doxepin for my acute restless legs syndrome. I have been using clonipin 12 years safely, but my doc recently found out it can cause dementia in older patients! (i'm 53). am finding that I sleep @ least 12 hours. Maybe this is because I'm still on a low dose of clonipin. Has anyone found that dozepin makes them sleep longer? Even when it is used alone? It's a concern because I even totally ignore my alarm clock in the morning!

You would probably sleep fewer hrs on Doxepin, but that isn't a standard drug for RLS. Are you seeing a neurologist? I would suggest that as there are several medications for RLS that are effective. Clonipin is a very long acting tranquilizer that doesn't wear off in AM so makes you feel sedated all day (depending on dose of course. Drugs that raise dopamine levels are good for RLS. I would research this problem so you can have a voice in what you take for it.
