Since I was about 11 I have had a red nose. It's never not red. I am now
51. For the past few months I have noticed that the skin around my nose to mouth line on both sides is red. Also I have a round red patch on my chin which appears to have little raised white lumps and enlarged pores. These areas are much oilier than the rest of my face. Been to see the doctor today and she diagnosed rosacea and has prescribed Metrogel.

Does this sound like rosacea? Seems that with rosacea the reddness comes and goes but mine is always there. Been covering up my red nose for many, many years but looks like I was have to wear foundation and powder every day now, not just on my nose.

Any ideas about treatment would be most helpful.

I've had rosacea for almost 15 years and it really stinks!! I was on Metrogel for about 3 years. Metrogel has a habit of not working after a while. Its like you need to put it on more and more to achieve the same results.

My worst flare ups were right after lunchtime and after dinner. My wonderful new Derma put me on a med called Desonide. Since being on the new med, I don't get any flare ups anymore.

Stick with the Metrogel until you see that its not doing anything for you anymore. Who knows? It may be enough to keep your condition at bay, mine was pretty severe. My cheeks, nose & chin would get all red.
