rosacea

I've had this most of my life. Has anyone found anything that helps? I used to put a cream called Noritate but it only made it worse. Once in awhile I get antibiotics.

Re: rosacea

Hi Nora,

I have Rosacea and use Metrogel, 1% and I have had great results. I have never taken antibiotics for my Rosacea, just putting the Metrogel on my face, twice a day.

In the summer, since I live out West, I use SPF 30 or higher. I had a slight tan over this past summer and that seemed to help, too. But I am usually very gloriously pale!

Ask your dr. about Metrogel 1%. It totally works wonders!

Cheers!

Re: rosacea

metrogel has never helped me (I've ahd it 30 years about). Right now, my dr. gave me a scrip for erythrmycin with open ended refills.

Re: rosacea

I have used the original Metrogel .75% for a long time and had very good results with it, but now I find that they don't make this anymore - only the 1%. My doctor gave me samples but this made my skin even worse. I finally had to quit using it. I called my pharmacy and they said there was a generic .75% that was available. I have an appt. with my derm next week. Has anyone used the generic of this? And if so, how did it work? Thanks.

Re: rosacea

HI,
I have had rosaeca since my late teens (did not have one single blemish for most of my teens so go figure!) It was manageable with gentle washes etc but it flared during my pregnancies and became horrific.
Now I take high does erythromicin and have been taking it for nearly a year and a half. I was warned by my dermatologist that it will be a long term treatment plan. I use clindatech 1% topically when it flares up. Once my acne component of roseaca settles down I will have laser treatment (by a qualified dermatologist only) to help minimise the redness...

I also use oil free moisturizer and make up and avoid 'heat' - that means sun, hot spicy food, too much red wine, too hot showers and baths. I just laughed when the dermatologist told me this but it seems to be true! I use specialist UV cream on my face made for sensitive skins...

While it has taken a while, it is slowely getting better. I recently went for about ten days without my antibiotic (I forgot it while on holiday) and the roseaca hardly returned so I figure that it is worth persevering...

J
