| How to handle a 75 year old woman with schizophrenia
My mother has been sick for my entire life. Her illness probably began when she in her teens or possibly early 20's. She says things that have never happened. She says this or that never happened when clearly I remember they did. She is paranoid at times. She says things that are not possible in the real world to have happened. She cannot handle seeing a pregnant woman. She was not there for me when I had my two children. She eats like a very small child. It seems as if eating is a struggle to her. She does not enjoy the normal things that people enjoy. My father divorced her when I was but a few months old. Since the age of 26, she has not been with a man or dated any men. She behaves in a catatonic state on occasions. She sleeps on the floor instead of on her bed. Too much to mention here...but all very extreme odd behavior....How do I cope with her? She refuses to believe that is not well...She just says she is 'different'. What and how do I handle my mother at this stage? Thank you
