Have you ruled out any eye disorders first? I say this because you imply that you are normal in other repects. Well I have bad (DES) dry eye syndrome and it gives me really really bad (AI) afterimages. Afterimages are images of the things I look at every time I blink I see a shadow of it and it follows me everywhere. People, objects, anything! The afterimages last a few seconds and since my eyes are always blinking by the time the afterimage fades, I already have hundreds of new shadows appearing and disappearing. Hope that gives you more info to work on.
