Post aural hallucinations?

I have a question regarding "hearing things"

I have heard that one symptom of schizophrenia in to hear voices. Occasionally, I will hear what sounds like just a snippet of someone's conversation. Something like, "and then he said--"
and nothing else. Sometimes I can't even make out words.
The other day, I was talking to my younger brother, who was playing a computer game. I turned around and walked away, and then I heard him exclaim, "Gosh, I'm SO happy!"
I looked back at him and said, "what?"
And he looked surprised, and said, "nothing."
"Didn't you say something?"
"I didn't say anything."
I think I scared my other brother that night when I heard what sounded like a woman singing, then turned around suddenly and said excitably, "Did you hear that? Are you playing music or something?"
He gave me a weird look and told me to go to bed. I wasn't tired at all, but I got into be anyway. About thirty seconds after that, I heard a man's voice, as if over the telephone, and he said "Did you see the elephant man?" and nothing else. I ignored it and closed my eyes.
But all the night, I couldn't sleep because all I could hear was a steady, solid "whump! whump!" coming from the ceiling. I got out of bed and ran around the house, and finally outside to determine the cause of the noise, but it continued, rising in volume, and having sub-beats, as if it were a band of drummers. I even went down to the basement to see if someone had been playing my brother's drums.
finally, at about 4 30 in the morning, the noise dissolved into the steady pit-pat of rain outside. It had not been a windy night, and also, there is another bedroom on top of mine, not a roof, and no one was sleeping in the upstairs room because the person who sleeps there works nights.

All in all, it was very bizarre.

I heard that the voices people hear when they have schizophrenia are usually either talking to them or about them. I didn't notice this about the voices I heard. It sounded more like I was tuning into a radio or someone else's cell- or cordless phone conversation, and then "losing the signal" very quickly after. Except for my brother's exclamation(but he might have been teasing me)
and the thumping noise.

Does this sound like symptoms of schizophrenia to any of you?

Please answer if you can.

Much thanks,

A

Cool

Hey. Nice to meet you. I am new on here too. I'm sorry to hear about your situation. but at the same time im happy to know someone else has just said all that i see and hear. its a good feeling. i was diagnosed with schizo affective disorder 3 years ago. i am 28 now. i try to stay on my meds as much as possible, cuz it deafens the noises and the sights i see. but when i do see and hear things, its weird like that. i always heard mumbling, or someone complaining to themself about me. the truth is they really werent saying a thing. it was all me. i couldnt really make out the whole thing, cuz it was muffled. but sometimes i go to bed and i lay there in the dark. all of a sudden i hear my radio on. and it gets louder and louder. til i go check. and when i do, the radio is off. crazy huh? yes, well thats what they say i am.it always seems to be playing the same song.where were you when the world stopped turning. its a country song they made for the wtc. anyways, i dont wanna babble. just letting you know that you are not alone. WE are not alone. take it as a joke. i have made a decision in my brain and planted it there. i dont care anymore if people and neighbors and friends say im bugged out... this is me. i have learned to enjoy my disorder. and just be plain bugged out. crazy sunglasses and things that are odd, and different. it makes me feel good that i can still have fun, even though this disorder. and its not about anyone else anyways, its about me. well, hope to hear from you soon. good luck
