Unhappy PLEASE HELP ME! ... it's my grilfriend.

Hi there ... I really need some help here PLEASE!

DOES MY GIRLFRIEND HAVE A PERSONALITY DISORDER/SCHIZOPHRENIA?

I need to give you some background info first.
-I met my girlfriend about 8 months ago and everything was great until about 3 weeks ago
-We have been going in a direction of getting married and having kids ... serious stuff
-About 3 months into our relationship she got a rash, which was diagnosed, from a specialist as SORIASUS (doctor gave her some cream and anti-biotics)
-She also had acne so her gave her TETRACYLINE ... 180 days worth
-The SORIASUS rash went a way
-She then had a pain in her abdomen around to her back in the same spot, which was diagnosed as a URIANRY TRAC INFECTION (they gave her anti-biotics and T3 with Codeine)
-She was on all of this at the same time plus...
-St. John's Wort, Spiralina, Multi-Vitamins, Niacin and marijuana
-When she was younger she use to do cocaine … for about 2 yrs solid then quit (about 22-24) she is now 28 turning 29 in March.

We moved in together pretty quickly ... about 2.5 months into our relationship ... everything was good, but here and there she would throw out things about the person who introduced us, one of her friends I had never met and myself having some sort of conspiracy. A conspiracy meaning that the reason we were in a relationship wasn't good intentions. (I didn't really think anything of it because of past relationships she has had which were bad ones) ... thought she was just insecure.

About 3 weeks ago we broke up ... the last 3 days of living together were crazy. She wasn't getting any sleep at all ... which in turn neither did I.

The first of last 3 days living together she started accusing me of cheating on her a few times *I have never done that to anyone and besides her and I were always together* ... she still wasn't sleeping and I begged her to get sleep. All of these 3 days in question we were in our bedroom talking/arguing/ sorting out stuff. As those 3 days went on the accusations got intense and worse. She started saying that I was video taping her from the lights, she was really on the conspiracy thing I described already, she accused me of drugging her, she would say to me that I'm trying to kill her, she even ran out of the house saying to me "Stop trying to kill me" ... "Stop chasing me” and I was on the third level of the house and she was on the first. (No chasing what so ever). She needed to drink water on her medication and when I would ask her if she wanted a drink she would say "What do you mean by drink" ... I begged her to go to the hospital several times. She would cry and then I would go to console her and she would back away with fear in her eyes ... I mean real fear. (That was freaking me out ... don't forget I hadn't been sleeping either ... worried about her). When I would say something to her she would see everything negative and say what do you mean by that. Even the simplest thing. She would fabricate stories with no bearing what so ever. I have a roommate and he heard some and was like whoa where is she coming from. At the time I was like thank god for a witness. After trying to convince her to go to the hospital and she wouldn't I said I was going to call her mom to come get her because I am worried. She then said "Don't you ever call my parents" angrily ... the whole time we would argue she acted like she didn't know why we were which confused me even more. She then called her mother herself after me begging and said to her mom "I have to get out of here they are video taping me and I am scared of my boyfriend" ... she then dashed to of the house. Her mother told me that when she got on her street she park in her neighbor’s driveway no knowing. Then her mom is like "You live over here" ... when in her house she was saying things like "I thought you were all dead" ... "I thought everyone in world was dead" ... he parents took her to the hospital. She was there a week in the hospital. She is at her parents now on anti-psychotic drugs for delusions I guess ... PLEASE ... PLEASE ... PLEASE help me to understand this I LOVE HER!.

P.S ... Is this hereditary? ... If she has a personality disorder will it go away? ... Will she have to be on meds all the time? ... Can she still have a normal life with me? ... Will these episodes continue?

I REALLY NEED YOU HELP ... PLEASE.

Signed: CRUSHED

If it is schizophrenia it can be hereditary. If it is some other condition it is likely to be not hereditary. Most likely she will have to be on meds all the time. If she stays on meds she should be able to have a normal life. However, lots of people don't stay on the meds for a variety of reasons and then the problem of delustions and hallucinations come back. It is possible for the delusions to come back but should be easy to catch and with a phone call to her dr. and upping or changeing her meds should be easy enough to take care of. Hopefully her parents will tell you the diagnosis and about her meds. Explain to them your engaged and planning marriage and love her. They may be more apt to share info with you then. This will probably be a lifelong battle. Are you up for it? Once you find out her diagnosis do some research on the internet about it and make some decisions. Good luck.

hello crushed. i am Mr.X. it seems to me that the mania of your girlfriend has been becase of her drug-use past, then again i could be wrong. chemical imbalances take a long time to build up and take effect. the marijuana will not help it in anyway if anything it will make her condition worse. i have had the same experinece when i thought there was an government organization hunting me to kill me(typical to the video taping she mentioned). i will be honest, schizophrenia in most cases is heriditary. it can take months, even years to start controlling it cause its not as easy as taking a pill, you have to find the right type medication cause what might work for one person may not work for the next. has her past relatives had schizophrenia? schizophrenia can be in ur genes as for me. my schizophrenia came from my past generations. it isn't famous in my family tree but few have had it in my background.if you really like her, which i'm guessing you do, take the time with her adn help her through it. once she tries her first medication, it may be changed because of the side effects, or it might just not help at all. from my experience, it took 10 months before i found the right medication. i tried several different types adn eventually found the right one. now i am living a normal life by my self, i own a buisness and getting by well. but the truth is, not all recover form it, but medicine for schizphrenia has advanced exponentially in the past 5 years and there is alot of hope for ur girlfriend. i wish you the best and keep posting up ur news about her and i can answer some of ur questions.wish you the best and have a nice day!

respectfully,
Mr.X.

Just a thought -
Alot of your girlfriend's behavior is very close to that caused by a psychotic break which occurs during the manic phase of Bi-Polar Disorder.
Do you know if she has ever experienced a depressed period in the past for no reason?
Whether it is Schizophrenia, Bi-Polar Disorder or another type of chemical imbalance; it would be wise of you to find a way to have a relationship with her family even if she doesn't exactly know about it. You'll need a support system who is there physically (even though us Health Board people are pretty good!)and they may be able to get medical information that you won't be able to (due to the new Privacy Laws that have gone into effect).
Take care, & pat yourself on the back for loving your girlfriend enough to find out what you can do to help her.
Bj
