It sounds like you might have acid reflux or GERD. PPI's when used for that purpose usually work within a day or less depending on your system. If there is an ulcer present, they take up to a month...

I've had over 12 polyps removed also. They will send them away for any suspicious ones and that takes about a week. The doctor should have seen you again just to reassure you. And yes, it sucks...
