I had my stapedectomy last Sep I had a pulsing noise in my ear prior to the surgery (tinitus) I guess but the surgery helped greatly. You are still only a few weeks out of surgery so...

the Dr probably said no beach beacuse sand in a cast could be very uncomfortable...you could try putting a plastic bag (the strong clear plastic ones you can get at the hardware store) and fix it...
