Re: Statin induced Diabetes and ext. High choleterol

Besides lousy diets, lack of exercise and hypercholesterolemia, the root cause of elevated cholesterol levels is inflammation, caused by household chemicals, toxins, exhaust fumes and anything else...

Re: Need advice re statins

Hi rainbowsrock,

Be careful which brand you purchase.
One known to work is Nature's Plus extended release which is a standardized supplement.

Read my posts for further information.

Re: High cholesterol

Hi Lostwind,

At your young age, I would recommend that you DO NOT take any statin until a natural approach to lower your fairly high figures has not worked suffiently. Your TC is only 0.1mmol/L...

Re: Best alternatives to statins?

Hi Shamrocklady

I would not recommend Omega6 fatty acids being supplemented when aiming to better one's lipid figures.

Omega3 reduces inflammation whilst Omega6 promotes inflammation, thereby...

Re: Cholesterol Confusion

Hi Archiesbaby and welcome to the board.

The figures you quote look like mmol/L which are used in every country except the USA, where mg/dl is preferred. Your LDL is sky high and needs to be...

Re: High LDL low triglyceride/Anti-smooth muscle antibody level

Hi Phoebe

In the UK, the single figure guidelines are:
LDL <=3mmol/l
TC <=5mmol/l
Trigs <=1.5mmol/l
HDL =>1.0mmol/l

Figures on there own mean very little, so if the figures look worse than...

Re: question about lipitor

Salgal,

I would not start on any statin with these ratios .

Total Cholesterol/HDL ratio is: 4.16 - (preferably under 4.5)
LDL/HDL ratio is: 2.72 - (preferably <= 3.2)
Triglycerides/HDL ratio...

Re: Statins and Red Yeast Rice Alternatives?

Dave,

CoQ10 is manufactured by the liver and is required by all muscle tissue and more for strength. (biggest muscle being the heart.) Little CoQ10, weak heart, no CoQ10, no muscle....bye-bye.

Re: Comment on my results

Hi Ariakas and welcome to the board.

First of all, the Trigs have not decreased a great deal with you taking 2 grams fish oil a day. Your Trigs/HDL ratio of 3.81 places you very close to the 10...

Re: New member - recent results

Hi Katsar.

Actually your latest results aren't as bad as the figures suggest. With your HDL having increased, two of your ratios have actually fallen.

TC/HDL from 6.75 to 6.35 (Should be <=4.5)...

Hi Bamac,

As you are probably aware, Nature's Plus is the one that I always go for every time because of it's high monacolin content.

Taking Statins in some cases increases LDL after a period...

Hi Bamac,

To tell you the truth, I am very surprised to hear that a family doctor has heard of Red Yeast Rice let alone warn of lipid increases after a few months of taking it.

Like you, my...

Re: simvastatin

Hi Missy,

By the age of 40 the human body only has @65% of the CoQ10 that it used to contain at age 20. By the age of 80 this level drops to @35%.
With Statins depleting the body of CoQ10...

Re: Cholesterol Control without Statin

Forget the Omega 3,6 and 9 combination. The 6 & 9 acids counteract the effectiveness of the 3 acids for Trig's reduction and positive HDL figures.
You need just enough Omega 3 to provide...
