Do you use a waterpic? If not, you might want to try one after the 7 day period imposed by your dentist. The waterpic can get in deeper than floss or your toothbrush can.

I quit 7.5 years ago almost the same way you did --- I was in the hospital for a week after a ruptured appendix and the morphine helped...

on second thought I'm not sure if I had a cat scan or MRI. I don't remember them saying anything about contrast dye but I had an iv needle in my arm already so maybe they had just added dye w/o me...
