Re: HYPOTHYROID or NOT

By looking at your labs the ft4 would be way too low for me. Mine has to be in the upper 1/3 of the range. Although the Total t3 is not a good test and should be Ft3, it is also low.

You should...

Re: Hair Falling out every Summer!!! Help!!

What I have read is that we need a smaller dosage of thyroid medicine when the weather warms up. My dose has to be lowered at this time. Some doctors are probably not aware of that.

Re: Could my hyperthyroidism be coming back

You might be going through the same symptoms I had after having RAI in 2004. First I went quite hypo after RAI, and needed lots of T4 medicine. Then later would need less and on and on this happened...

Re: Low Ferritin not a cause for fatigue?

Yes that does sound right and with low ferritin you can feel tired. I also have hypothyroidism(not hashi) and we have trouble hanging on to iron if left in a low thyroid state.

I'm still working...

Re: New! Synthroid question

With your T4 being under the range, is very low, when it should be in the upper part of the range. The Ft4 and Ft3 always need tested and more important than TSH. Ft3 is the active hormone and Ft4 is...

Re: New and first post...

Sorry for what you are going through. Many times we get stuck with "Tsh worshipping" docs and never get well. The TSH is just plain old school.

Can you please post the ranges for your thyroid...

Re: Please look at my test results

Hello I am also very sorry about the loss of your daughter. I agree with what Midwest tells you.

Just want to comment on your iron since I am having low iron problems.

Your iron is a bit low...

Re: Low ferritin

After taking the iron, you will start to feel better in about a week. But it does take longer to build up your ferritin. You can also try to eat iron rich foods. Dark meat is great at building up...

Re: Should a synthroid dose increase make me feel this lousy?

That is a huge dose increase. It is usually 25 to 50mcgs increase, and this can cause a stress on your adrenals.

Have you had adrenals, iron panel, b12 and vitamin d3 tested? These are very...

Re: Blood Pressure -not sure what's happening

Hello, I can only tell you of my own experience. At first when thyroid is low, the bloodpressure can go too low. If thyroid is left untreated you can develop high bloodpressure.

You must always be...

Re: A silly question on iron/ferritin supplements

I don't know about hemoglobin going to high. Mine is up in the range also, but have been told to take iron as many others do with low ferritin and iron.

I am taking 190mg of elemental iron a day,...

Re: Do these results indicate iron deficiency

Yes your iron is low and also your ferritin. Mine was 36 at one time and I was so exhausted with creases in the middle of my fingernails. Everyone said my skin had a grayish hue and the whites of my...

Re: Thyroid test results

I am sorry you have those other conditions. If you haven't done so please get your B12, Vitamin D, Ferritin and adrenals tested.

Re: not sure about current levels...

Yes it will probably lower your TSH but we don't worry about it, but I know many doctors do and that is what keeps us patients sick.

The levothyroxine will raise your Ft4 and as it does it should...

Re: I feel like I'm going backwards!

Yes your dose should have not been lowered and your doctor is incompetent to only watch TSH.

I put up with that for many years and started selfmedicating, ordering my own tests and meds. No doctor...

Re: Can I use my body temp as a sign meds are working?

Body temperature is a pretty good gauge on how your thyroid is working. I don't do morning temps but check it later in the day after moving around, and if it is about 98.4 to 98.6 then that is a good...

Re: Just venting.............

Another doc that is so worried about the TSH. Geez when you are taking thyroid medicine, of course the TSH will be suppressed.

You are feeling good and now you will be taking less and going back...
