As it sounds, in a discectomy, they remove the disk and in a laminectomy, they remove the lamina bone over the back of the canal in the back of the spine. Your MRI says they can see a left sided...

The major cause of most spine pain is muscles. You have a lot of little things going wrong with your entire spine and what that does is put enormous stress on the muscles to try to take up the slack....
