Re: Having TKR -- and scared

I am 2 years post TKR (right knee), I was 55. I also have a desk job but stayed out 8 weeks so that you can do the exercises properly, you cannot skimp here. I doubt you will be up and around by...

Re: tkr date on 9/17/2012

I had a CPM machine as well for 1 month at home, it certainly helped but for me the outpatient PT was the best thing for my recovery. The improvements were exponential once I started PT.

Good...

Re: Recent knee replacement

It took me about 6 weeks before I felt "human" again. Don't be afraid to take meds before PT sessions, its important that you do those exercises with 100% focus.
I am now 2 years post Op and can...

Re: After TKR, is walking "fluid" again?

Just read some of the "sticky" postings here so you know what to expect. The 1st 6-8 weeks following the surgery are tough but all up hill after that. There will be times that you will regret...

Re: TKR on 4/24/12

The pain should be diminishing with each passing week but after each PT session I had some after affects for a few hours. I stopped taking pain meds after 4 weeks. The key time frame for me was 6...

Re: tkr - toilet raiser or bars?

Nana B,

You will be advised to avoid shower/tub while the staples are still on, about 8-10 days after surgery the staples will come off. I was able to take a shower at that point, lifting the leg...

Re: tkr - yes or no?

If you search on my ID you will see previous posts on what to expect, key points:
- the 1st 6 weeks of recovery are tough, its all uphill after that
- you will not be able to chase young children...

Re: Knee Replacement

I had TKR on right knee 15 months ago, I am fully recovered. I can kneel fine but I had to do some work last week kneeling often and for long durations while working and although I got thru it the...

Re: Knee Replacement 6 months Report

As most will attest to on this board, the 1st 6 weeks are the most difficult after TKR. I questioned my decision at that point. But give it more time and you will see the bending improve but keep...

Re: I need advice with TKR - to do it or put it off

Hoping to be active/mobile after 4 weeks is pushing it, given the children's ages you will need 8 weeks post TKR in my opinion before you can watch the kids again. I am one of the more successful...

Re: Knee Replacement problems

The pain and the inability to rest properly lasted 6 weeks. Take the meds and do the exercises its the only way to get back to normal activities. I had to sleep & nap in my recliner for the 1st 6...

My experience RTKR oct 2010:

- never used the cane or walker, left hospital in 3 days.
- couldn't do stairs initially without holding/leaning on hand rails.

Re: Total Knee Replacment

That was my experience, up and walking the next day, home in 3 days.
The CPM machine will go home with you if it follows my procedure. It can be tough to spend the 5-6 hours a day using the machine...

Re: what are my options?

I wouldn't wait, I am 55 and had TKR 5 months ago, the new materials last much longer than years ago, 30 years might be a a little bit of a stretch but anything close is good by me. My appliance is...

Re: I am having bilateral TKR at the end of Jan 2011.

I had single TKR in Oct, although I used CPM machine I found myself cheating/squirming to make the ROM numbers. The outpatient PT worked best for me, 3X a week with exercises at home. I am 9 weeks...
