Re: LPR Noises?

I get the lump in my throat, PND, some trouble swallowing drier foods and some pills. Without Zantac at night will wake up with louder gurgles and sometimes a bit of acid (bile?) taste in the back of...

Re: t3 and t4

Shoot, I was afraid of that. I was go glad my PCP was ordering all these labs when my TSH was normal that I forgot to ask him specifically for *free* T3 and T4! Will I have to ask him regardless? I...

Re: Gluten and Hashimotos

This information from a gastroenterologist might help. It's a reply to a question I asked him. The trophic hormones include TSH. I, for one out of many, don't need to wait for decades-long clinical...

t3 and t4

Is there a free and non-free version of each? Or are all references to t3 and t4, whether or not they say "free" t3 and t4, referring to the free version?

TIA, Martha

Re: LPR Noises?

Sorry we have to share in this, but kinda glad it's not just me too. Thanks! I never thought of it being caused by getting past the weak sphincter.

LPR Noises?

Anyone else with LPR hear noises in their throat? I get anything from the sound of bubbles to a kind of crunching or grinding noise, which may just be more serious bubbles. But I really don't know...

Ultrasound Results In: How To Followup Question

Whew, said I have "minor nodules" to monitor ... do again in 6-9 months. (Should have asked for size! but I guess I'm okay with waiting till next time for that if they don't send it to me or my PCP.)...

Should I Test rT3?

I'm still waiting for my first goiter u/s results. My TSH was normal. I plan to get free T3 and 4 and the three antibodies. Is it recommended to get rT3 from the get-go too, or wait to see if there's...

Re: Newer Afirma® Thyroid FNA Analysis

Thank you for the feedback. I had read that Medicare was covering it, so it shouldn't be hard to get non-Medicare insurance to cover it. It's expensive, but I also read that for those on low income...

Newer Afirma® Thyroid FNA Analysis

Have people been using this much yet? Finding their insurance will cover it? Sounds like a really good dx tool to help avoid some surgeries! I guess I'm not allowed to post links, so google "Genzyme...

Re: Ultrasound Question

Oh, okay, that makes sense. I'm sure worried about finding a good doc who will not just say "looks good!" But I will work on that.

Re: Ultrasound Question

I know you can be hypo with TSH in normal range, but I'd think it would be on high end of normal if not in the middle. Mine this week was 1.380 (.35-4.5), so low end. In May 2011 it was 2.630...

Affecting Neck Structures

What imaging device is used to see if a nodule is affecting neck structures, or do they have to go in with surgery to find that out?

TIA

That's the most frustrating part. US yesterday 2:30 she said doctor would have results by this morning (!), but his office didn't call me back with them by end of the day. I suspect they went to the...

Bethany you're my savior this evening answering all my posts! I will sleep better just having additional info. I've got to feel I'm moving forward, even if just getting info, or I go crazy. Thanks...

Re: Ultrasound Question

Thanks for replying. I'm going a bit crazy not knowing more. Would a diffuse goiter without nodules be checked for vascularity, or would they only be doing that if there are nodules?

That's a...

Lab Ranges

Why are the lab ranges different? Is it because of a technical difference in how they process the sample? Or is it because they have different philosophies on what "normal" is? When people here say...

Any good thyroid docs in SC? (pref Myrtle Beach or Mt. Pleasant/Charleston area)

I've just been dx with goiter by ENT when I went in for LPR eval. He says I have both, but I'll have to sort out whether the LPR symptoms might be caused by the goiter??? Anyway, had ultrasound...
