Re: Borderline Aic but high post prandial

Whether you're considered pre-diabetic or diabetic depends on which doctor you see and what diagnostic guidelines they use. Some doctors focus more on the A1c and others will order an oral glucose...

Re: Can 70-75 BG give you hypoglycemia symptoms?

That's just the way diabetes works in the early stages. Over time this can stress the beta cells of the pancreas out and some of them burn out and stop producing insulin. This is why many type 2...

Re: Can 70-75 BG give you hypoglycemia symptoms?

Yes, you can get hypo symptoms at technically normal levels. They are often called false hypos. The higher your BGs go, the higher the point where you may feel hypo symptoms. Someone running BG in...

Re: Pre diabetes and low blood sugar?

Most protein bars are higher in carbs. I'm not saying not to try and fix a low, but to prevent them in the first place by preventing the spike. It does take lots of trial and error to figure out what...

Re: Pre diabetes and low blood sugar?

As you found, you still get a crash after pasta and bananas are one of the highest sugar fruits out there. If you keep feeding the lows with carbs, you'll just end up on a spike then hypo...

Re: Pre diabetes and low blood sugar?

Fats and proteins won't raise it, but they also might keep your blood sugar more stable. If all you eat is starchy and sugary foods, you're body is going to need to make more insulin to deal with the...

Re: Pre diabetes and low blood sugar?

Hypos can be part of the development of diabetes. I was having hypo symptoms for a few years prior to my diagnosis. Once I had a meter, I was able to discover the pattern. I'd eat something...

Re: Effect of exercise on blood glucose

I have exercised after post-meal highs and with good results. I don't check pre-meal anymore, so I can't say if it has helped lower mine.

One time really sticks out. I was traveling with friends...

Re: Confused!!!!

The peak can vary depending on the meal. What was it that you ate? Simple sugars and high-carb, low-fat meals tend to peak sooner, whereas complex carbs or higher fat content in the meal can delay...

Re: Meal and carb question

I think it would be more helpful to test more, especially in the beginning. I was testing about 8x/day some days, but it really helped me figure out which foods spiked me and which were better for my...

Re: Feel like my Doc is not behind me on t2 managment

Sorry for what you are going through and for your father's health crisis. I cannot imagine what it's like. That would be very hard on anyone.

Having to change my diet has been a huge challenge for...

Re: Feel like my Doc is not behind me on t2 managment

Also, <I have read that Kelloggs Special K Cereal is quite high on the glycemic index. Which means it raises blood glucose levels quite fast>.

Re: Feel like my Doc is not behind me on t2 managment

Cereal would spike my BG that high too, so I don't eat it. Carbs = break down into sugar. Your meter is telling you that cereal is not a good thing to eat. It would spike most type 2s. Foods like...

Re: Does coffee raise blood sugar?

Wow, that is high! It could be the caffeine or you may be sensitive to any fillers that may be in your sweetener or creamer if they are powdered.

Re: How long does it take diabetic retinopathy to develop

So sorry you're going through this. That must be very frightening! Did your doctor say if there is any way to reverse it?

You must have been running very high numbers for those few years if your...
