Red vs. White Scars

I've read a lot of postings here about white, flat scars. Even though they are not new my scars are red and raised. My youngest scars are three months old, but I have some that are older. I was just curious why some are red and some are white. Do they turn white over time? Does it relate to severity of the cuts, or skin types? Just curious.

Re: Red vs. White Scars

the red ones are newer and havent really turned to scar tissue yet, my doc said. (something along those lines)
the red ones you can probably prevent from turning white by using a scar cream

Re: Red vs. White Scars

Thanks for the reply. As my newest and deepest scars are only a few months old, so I guess that explains it.
