Such behaviors are always more common than the anomic suffer presumes but I'd guess that sleep deprivation as a punishment is far more uncommon than sleeping as an escape or the various other methods of self-harm simply because sleep deprivation is a long term behavior that implies prolonged self-control. Many of us who cut, cut because we suspend our otherwise extensive attempts at self-control just long enough to make a few cuts. A very interesting contrast.
