My boyfriend and I trigger each other to self harm. Please help

We both cut ourselves.
Not with each other or anything weird.
We are just all each other has to talk about these kinds of things.
I was recently prescribed Prozac and he is severely depressed, but no longer on any sort of medication.
He found out I cut and a couple weeks later, he cut up his arm badly. I looked at it and had the strongest urge to cut. The next night, I did and I have deep cuts in my upper arm.
We both have a lot of mental problems and can be down right crazy around each other.
When we fight, they are intense. Nothing physical, just intense if that makes sense.
We love each other very much and have been together almost two years.
I just don't like that we trigger each other.
What should we do?

Hello mg23.

I think you both should talk to a therapist to help resolve the mental problems you're facing. Talking to a therapist or someone might help break the vicious cycle of your boyfriend cutting because you've done some cutting and vice versa. It's crucial I think that you and your boyfriend develop healthier coping mechanisms. If medication has helped with relieving your boyfriend's severe depression, I think he should resume his medication if at all possible.
