Post Has anyone used Caverject? Muse?

Hi!
I am wondering if any of you out there have used either Caverject or Muse? My insurance won't cover Viagra for me unless both of these do not work AND I have erectile dysfunction for over six months AND a doctor prescribes it AND the insurance company approves after reviewing my case. Neither the Caverject or the Muse sound very pleasant. I have the choice of injection myself in my penis (Caverject) or inserting a urethral suppository into my urethra (Muse). Do they just sound much more horrible than they really are? Your thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

I tried Muse and it was TORTURE! My entire groin area hurt for 12 hours and I never did get erect. All it succeeded in doing was making me feel better abut paying for Viagra.

Hi there,
I have used Caverject the past few months and like most men, I cringed when I was told about a needle. But the reality is is that the needle is tiny (27 ga. I believe) and in the 6 or so times I've done it, there was absolutely no pain. And the erection happens with me in about 5 minutes. I've done Viagra, but erections on Caverject are nothing but incredible--harder than when I was 20...and I'm 50+!

I use both Viagra (50mg) and Muse successfully. I keep the Muse around for those times when my wife and I do not want to wait the 60 minutes Viagra takes with me, or when I have a full stomach. Muse works on me within 15 minutes after application. It is not as good as Viagra for me - I get a "90%" erection, but that's good enuf. The main side effect is a lasting moderate ache in your penis and groin for about two hours, but if I don't think about it I don't notice it.
The application is key for Muse. See the Vivus videotape - available on their web site. Your utheria must be moist, both for ease of insertion of the Muse applicator, and more importantly, for quick dispersion of the medication. You do that by either urinating right before application, or - which works better for us - fooling around for a while so that my penis is moist with "precum". The application itself is not a big deal once you get the hang of it - no pain or irritation at all. The erection is there in 15 minutes, and lasts for an hour or so.
I've not tried Caverject and don't think I'd be able to stick myself with a needle down there. Hope this helps. As I said, check out the Muse video on the Vivus site.
Will try some Levitra shortly to see if it offers any advantave to the blue diamond.

I have tried both. Muse hurt a lot more than the needle, and didn't work as well as Caverject.

Re: Has anyone used Caverject? Muse?

I have used Muse several times. It doesn't bother me to stick it inside my penis. I first made sure I was wet. It only gave me a partial erection and it caused a burning feeling in my wife's vaginal so she doesn't like it.
I'm using what I have left for masturbation, won't buy any more.

I have used Viagra, it doesn't work much better... and always gives me a headache.

Recently tried 10 MG of Levitra... it worked better than Viagra and NO headache. But I think I need the 20 MG.

Still my best/hardest (like it was years ago) erection is from my prescription vacuum pump. No side effects and it's free. (insurance or medicare will pay all charges)

How does that vaccum pump work, would like to know the details how you use it?

It consist of a clear plastic cylinder, with an attachable pump that fits over the end and a rubber tension ring. It has a device for stretching a tight rubber tension ring over the end of the cylinder. After the ring is on the cylinder, the penis is placed inside, the end is placed up tightly next to the body to form a seal. Apply a couple strokes to the pump. This creates a vacuum and blood begins to fill the penis. After a few minutes the penis will reach full erection. (it will raise up to the top of the cylinder) Then push the tension ring off the cylinder onto the penis. The ring is very tight and holds the blood in the penis, thus maintains erection. Then push a button on the pump to break the vacuum and remove the pump and cylinder.
The tension ring is designed so that ejaculate can exit if the ring is correctly placed on the penis.

Disadvantages
(1.) The tension ring can only be left in place for a maximum of 30 minutes due no blood circulation in the penis.
(2.) The penis will feel cold to touch due to no blood circulation.

When the doctor prescribed mine he had me to view the video tape that comes with the pump while in his office. Also when I went to the medical store to purchase the pump they had a female employee that demonstrated the use of the pump.

Re: Has anyone used Caverject? Muse?

I used Caverject in the past and it is awesome if you can handle the needle. It never bothered me BUT my urologist would not let me use it for very long because it can leave scaring in the penis tissue which can damage it. I have been told this by a few doctors now and you can find that info online as well.
It does work awesome though. And fast. You are going to get hard - no doubt about it.

Re: Has anyone used Caverject? Muse?

I have used both and Viagra and Cialis and Levitra... they all suck. I am 31 years old post Rectal Cancer surgery. Ok... the Muse was no big deal for me. Didn't work though. The caverject burned like a son of a bi#&h!!! Apparently 4% of men experience this extreme burning/stinging sensation. Yeah, that was me.

None of the orals have worked--- yet. Apparently they did a lot of nerve damage, and the radiation I had caused problems with my vessels... so they say. So, for now my wife and I wait for something.... Anything sufficient enough for intercourse.

Anyway, wanted to chime in with my thoughts. Best of Luck.

Regards,
CancerDad

My wife bought one from one of those "sex shops." Apparently the people there told her this was the best one. The uro said we might get a better one if we spend more money and get one thru him... I'm tapped, man. Big change going from working a killer job to going on disability for over a year.
The only one we paid for was the caverject. Brought it into the Uro's office, where it can remain... there is NO WAY I am trying that again. Literally, don't mean to sound melodramatic, but thought I was going to die.

Do you find the pumps work? Because the one that I have does s#$t!

Thanks for your help.

Regards,
CancerDad

Re: Has anyone used Caverject? Muse?

Caverject or Edex...........wonderful. The needle is short and probably about a 30 gauge. Slight sensation of the stick, but nothing worse than *****ing your finger to test blood sugars. The results however make Viagra look like the weak guy in the old body building commercials. You can depend on an erection of about an hour (takes about 5 minutes for erection) and great sensation. Use is not recommended any more frequent than every other day. Also, if your Dr prescribes dosage of 10/use, then you can get him to prescribe 20's and get two uses. They say to discard any left over from 1st injection, but just get a supply of insulin syringes and you are ready to go. Personally I use the Edex since it is the same drug and is a little cheaper. Be prepared thou, it will costs you about $25/unit of 20ml

Re: Has anyone used Caverject? Muse?

Another possibility (one that was not even available when this thread started back in 2003) is Trimix Gel. Works a little like MUSE except it is a gel (duh!) not a pellet. It does have Prostaglandin(Alprostadil) and the other two Trimix ingredients. Has a neat plunger applicator to squirt the gel into urethra. It works OK -- and no real Alprostadil Ache like you get sometimes with MUSE. The one hitch is, it costs about 25-30 dollars a shot!! That is the part that hurts! Also since the gel might irritate your partners privates one thing you can try is put a not too tight penis ring just below the glans to hold the gel in ( a good idea anyways since it also won't escape while you are manipulating to get it worked in. I have used it 6 times so far with a 500/300/100 mcg mix ( also adding MUSE to boost to 1000). They also make a 1000/300/100 mix. If you used MUSE .. I would get the same Prosta/Aldo amount (or more) as you used for MUSE. You can get more prosta/aldo with Trimix and it won't ache as much. (Just your wallet will ache). Maybe the price will come down in a few years -- plus the above price is without insurance help -- which they should cover some.
