Viagra and Infertility - Sexual Dysfunction Treatment Message Board

My wife and I have been trying for about 6 months to seriously conceive - we're both 29. I have had some performance anxiety issues in the past so about 75% of the time I take 25mg of Viagra (Rxed by my doctor) to achieve a full erection. Of course, it is frustrating not being able to conceive. Doing a search on the internet, I am very familiar with the Queens University study which concludes that V might impair male fertility. I see Pfized has denied this and there's nothing in my research to indicate the following study has been advanced upon with further research or more empirical evidence with humans.

Does anyone have any more experience or insight about the viagra/infertility link or this just one trumped-up study? I am bit paranoid because I like to have the V around to "assist."

It would seem unlikely that Viagra would result in your infertility. There is one sure fire way to tell. Go to a doctor and have a sperm motility test done. Take your Viagra as you normally do and also before giving the sample. If your guys are swimming normally, then you're not the problem. If they're not, then your doctor can better advise what to do next.

I think the study stated there was no effect on motility, actually motility is increased. However, rats or mice subjected to 100mg equivalent of V displayed sped-up "acrosome reactions" in the sperm which caused them to weaken prior to penetrating the egg.

This is only one study though on rats, don't know if any empirical evidence in humans backs this up.

have any of you had any experiences with this or heard anything lately? apparently this same article resurfaced not long ago and has been circulating around the internet and even on the news as well.

That's really weird, I haven't looked at this thread for two years and on the exact day I recheck the thread, someone posted nearly hours before.

I read that article on the study. It's the same story which seems to get picked up literally every year or two.,. the same exact Queens University study, same lead physician, same quotes. I have seen no new studies performed updating the research. I think what happens is the headline is so sensational, some editor sees it, thinks it as new, and republishes it, everyone else then picks up and you have a flood of "news" at once.

BTW, since I last posted, we did get PG but MCed so I tend to doubt the empirical validity of the study
