Question about Viagra & Klonopin - Sexual Dysfunction Treatment Message Board

Is it dangerous to take Klonopin (benzodiazepines) and Viagra?

I take Klonopin once in awhile for anxiety and sleep problems and I recently tried Viagra because I sometimes have problems getting an erection. When I know I am going to take Viagra I make sure I haven’t taken any Klonopin for at least a day. So the question I have is it dangerous to mix these drugs. Klonopin isn’t considered a nitrate is it?

Anyone here take both?

I am going to check with my doctor but thought I would ask the board for a wider range of responses.

I was not able to find side effects will using an ED med from my research. The meds to avoid with Viagra are Alpha Blockers and Nitrates since both could cause a huge drop in blood pressure. Klonopin is not a nitrate; it is a cousin of Valium and Xanax. Nitrates are generally used for heart patients with chest pain. You are supposed to avoid alcohol, opiates, and other central nervous system depressants will using Klonopin.

Anti depressants and anti anxiety drugs can cause ED; so can diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol.

Thanks...Helps allot. For some reason I thought Klonopin was a nitrate and I was wrong and I am glad. I think I get mild ED from the Klonopin. If I stop the Klonopin for a day or two the ED gets somewhat better. But if I take a very low dose of Viagra it works wonders.
