22 years old. Erection problems. Thoughts/advice?

I'm new to the boards and I am glad that there are other people out here with similar problems willing to offer help!

Anyway, I'm 22 years old and feel like I have little to no sex drive. I rarely wake up with erections in the morning, and if I do, they are very weak and don't last long if I get up and move around. When I masturbate, I have to stimulate myself constantly or I lose the erection. I have gone to a urologist who has given me cialis which does a pretty good job of keeping me hard when I masturbate/have sex. I'm hoping I won't have to take cialis for the rest of my life as I'm only 22! Anyway, I really believe these problems have stemmed from me taking accutane (acne treatment for any of those who don't know what it is). If it does not stem from taking that drug, does anyone else have any ideas what my problem could be? My testosterone levels are normal (in the high range), I don't smoke, I'm very fit and weightlift/exercise frequently, I do drink on weekends and occassionally during the week and my diet is pretty well rounded. Any advice/pointers/thoughts would be much appreciated!

Re: 22 years old. Erection problems. Thoughts/advice?

hey
I've experienced some similiar problems. The best thing to do is see a doctor who specializes alternative medicine. In my experience GPs seem to be very uninformed/narrow minded about the effects of accutane.

Do you have any other side effects/symptoms. I also have experienced anxiety and depression that I feel is related to accutane, and I think that the depression may be linked to low sex drive. I also had trouble sleeping and melatonin seemed to help that. Its a hormone thats related to serotonin, and when I first started taking it it seemed to increase my sex drive, and I began having erections again in the morning. Alcohol lowers testosterone, so thats something to look into.

although melatonin did have some postive effects initially I don't think that it is good for this problem. In fact it seems that many people believe it can contribute to sex drive and performance problems.

Hi Nes9

I have been having problems just like yours and mine started around 20 years old, im 25 now, soon after taking accutane. I asked my dermatologist about this and she says its not supposed to happen but i am positive thats were it came from. I first started having difficulties with erections soon after I got off the awfull drug. It seemed my night time erections slowly diminished and my erections while sex or masturbation i would have to have constant stimulation or my erection would diminish. I am in perfect health, good blood pressure, cholesterol, no diabeties, perfect testosterone. I started out taking viagra which helped at first and then after 4 years it does not help me out anymore. I have seen everyone from endocrinologist who check all your hormones for ED to vitamin doctors who test for vitamins hoping it was this that was causing this problem but it wasnt. I have read on some sites on the internet saying accutane can effect your cardiovascular system but nothing about ED. I have also heard from other people having the same problem as us due to taking the drug.
Currently im seeing a doctor at a university hospital who deals in sexual medicine who is reccomending in the near future i might have to consider a implant. Which completely sucks at 25 years old.
But before I took accutane I could have a erection for about a hour before it went down and now its like 5 seconds on viagra.
Sincerely Chris

Re: 22 years old. Erection problems. Thoughts/advice?

gday mate gonna give u some advice which will fix your problem once and for all. Guaranteed.

i was having serious problems and have done lots of research and now am better than i have ever been. Let me first say Gp's dont know **** about this problem. they will say its mental';its now commonly known that in about 80% of cases its an underlying physical problem.

Go to a CHIROPRACTOR-u might be thinking how could that help my erections. If ur spine is not straight the nerves cannot function optimally and cant send the ectrical impulses around your body efficiently. I started going just cause i had a sore back and immediately saw results. u might think ur back is fine but if ur young chances are u hunch go get checkd out. Most likely this will be the best bit of advice i can give u. Also none of that akwardness of heading to a urologist. u dont even need to tell them ur problem;u will get an xray of ur spine, neck and hips and from there they will let u know if theres a problem and start doing the adjustments and fixing u up. Heaps of benefits as well-mood-energy-libido-relaxation and many more Cant recommend chiros enough.

Do KEGELS- best thing ever-u cannot imagine the benefits u will get-i saw awesome results within two weeks-studies show that it is more effective than viagra and none of those ******** side effects. google kegel benefits unreal

One more to finish off- jelqing-increased size and thickness-harder erections

before i go-obviously take care of ur health-do weights-eat healthy-do multivitamins-drink lots of water-run-plenty of sleep- chances are u have already done all of this so the three main points will help you out heaps. Also if u already take care of urself like the points mentioned above you will obviously adjust a lot quicker as in my case with my chiro.

One more point-this problem would have obviously stressed u out-i know it did for me-thats why u should go to a naturopath and buy some vitamins for stress. Acupuncture is unreal as well.

Follow my advice and u will be as good as gold.

Let me know how u go.

good luck.
