Venous Leak

Hi all,

Im a 30 year old guy and have been dealing with ED for the past 5 years and also have been diagnosed with "venous leak". I have seen more than 5 urologists in different cities (experts and well regarded in sexual function for men), and I totally agree with your statement that they are apathetic to the patient's experience. I think it stems from the fact that they simply don't know what to do -- there is no good research on venous leaks and no treatments that actually work.

My latest doctor told me to order a medical grade **** ring (venous flow controller) -- have you guys tried one of these?? From what i've read they are pretty useless. I've ordered one anyways.

Another question -- do you guys have any other symptoms in other extremeties such as tingling/numbness in toes or swelling in the legs? Chronic venous insufficiency?

Also --- ever been diagnosed with ADD? A therapist that I talked to thought that venous leak could have more to do with the mind-body connection...and the mind not being able to keep the smooth muscle contracted enough to block the veins.... (i.e. the 20 second erection...)

Anyways -- I'm just throwing out my ideas. By the way, i'm in great shape, dont drink or smoke and eat like a champ (this venous leak issue is not about diet and exercise --- 30 yr olds dont get ED from diet and exercise)

Thanks guys -- just reaching out.

Gonzo

Re: Venous Leak - A result of poor smooth muscle relaxation?

Hey Gonzo

Yes, conventional medicine does not seem to have an answer or rather a cure for this. While a cure implies a long term solution, urologists are offering ways to 'get by'. My doctor also advised a **** ring too....I've heard they are effective for people with classic venous leak, i.e. guys who get a full blooded erection but cannot hold it. I haven't tried it yet....

They guy who was doing my penile doppler test suggested the mind connection too. According to him high levels of anxiety will cause inadequate smooth muscle relaxation - If there is anxiety in your system which is acute in nature, it will 'add' to the problem. I doubt it if it can be the cause of it however. The was I see it....it will make a 4 into a 6.

However there is a lot of shooting in the dark with this issue....docs and patients alike don't know much about this problem.

I remember I never had a problem as a kid/teenager/young adult....In fact the problem was opposite....it was hiding the boners Kind of ironical, isn't it.

My plan of action is this....

- I will have sex assisted by medicines (which unfortunately don't work that well right now because I have prostatitis.)
- Meanwhile find an 'alternative' solution to this damn thing. I've basically exhausted answers provided by Western medicine, i.e. Viagra etc. I don't intend to graduate to pumps etc. Since there is no cure or permanent answer to this in conventional medicine, I'd at least like to try other things - possibly chinese or Indian.

Keep in touch....let me know what you are thinking.

Re: Venous Leak - A result of poor smooth muscle relaxation?

Hey..thanks for the reply.
Well, I purchased an 'Actis venous flow controller' and it seems to help somewhat, tho I havent tried it with a woman yet.. it kind of dangles at the base of your junk..so you'll have to explain it to your partner. I think if I were to used it in conjunction with meds, it would work pretty well for me.. I'll let you know when i try it out with a partner.

You might want to try Pycnogenol (french pine bark extract). I was taking 1000 mg of l-arginine and 25mg of pycnogenol daily for a few weeks and that seemed to really stimulate blood flow to the penis.. i even was experiencing morning wood some mornings which hasnt happened in years..
the pycnogenol is the key i think.., but it gave me such a racing heart that i thought my heart was going to explode and so I had to stop. The side effects for me were racing heart, insomnia and pretty bad dry mouth. if it werent for those side effects I would have continued using it. You might want to try it and see if it helps you without the side effects.

Re: Venous Leak - A result of poor smooth muscle relaxation?

Hey ogon,

My urologist provided me with 3 or 4 different kinds of tension rings to experiment with; Actis was one of them. It seems to be the one on the internet most often mentioned for venous leak treatment. Of all the ones I've tried, Actis was the least effective. I'd recommend purchasing other ones. The medical grade high tension rubber rings work best for me, probably around 35-40% better than Actis. There are plenty of legitimate web sites that sell rings like these ones, just look around a little. They usually offer rings with a variety of diameters. I recommend purchasing the ones with the smallest diameters you can find, even if you think they're too small. Tight is better if you want to keep the veins constricted. The rings usually last about 6 months when used 3-4 times/week. Since "wearing out" the good rings (all but the actis) my urologist provided me with, I've purchased new ones of the same and different type several times. You'll know you're getting a pretty good ring if you're spending somewhere between 17 and 30 dollars. Anything significantly less will break prematurely and anything more is a scam. In any case, these rings (not the actis) have changed my life and I highly recommend them.

Hope this helps a little
