Trimix Gel

I've used Trimix injectible with good results, but it's so inconvenient in many ways. Since it has to be refrigerated, it doesn't travel well and I'm still not crazy about shoving that needle into my penis. Trimix Gel is mixed in the injection tube right before it's used, so it doesn't have to be refrigerated. Once it's mixed, the gel is "injected" or squeezed into the urethra. No needle, no tube penetration into the urethra either. Does anyone have any experience with Trimix Gel? I wonder if it's as effective as the injectible version.

Yes I have used it -- had a 6-pack with a 500/300/100 mcg mix.
I would say it gave a 60-80% of full erection -- maybe same as MUSE.

Tried a few variations on the theme, such as pre-plumping to maybe 50% using a VED Pump and the squirting in. Also "Boosted" the gel by adding a MUSE 500mcg pellet. The results were about the same (but went on for longer). But the good thing is, just like Trimix injects, there is no Alprostadil Ache with the gel -- even at the boosted level. That's nice.

I am about to try again in a week or so (about 2 months after first batch) using 1000/300/100 mix. Since the I have used plain 500 or 1000mcg MUSE with some pretty good results (and not too much ache) I am hoping the higher level Trimix Gel will work well too.

One thing I am doing lately that seems to help (with MUSE) is to add a not-too-tight penis ring just below the glans ( one of those Beads-In-The-Ring is just about right). For some reason that has helped keep the ache down to manageable levels (with plain MUSE) and also is just enough to prevent any of the MUSE from escaping during any activities and I think keeps things a little harder. (You might think it would make more sense to put ring at base .. but doing so will restrict blood coming in and make a sort of swivel joint -- both of which you don't really want to have -- so therefore the ring up top -- go figger).

Lastly, as you probably know, Trimix Gel ain't cheap -- around $25 a splurt -- pretty steep price! I have not submitted my last bill to insurance yet so I am not sure how much they will re-imburse.

Give it a try -- and try the ring thing if the first few tries don't seem quite up to 100% levels.

Re: Trimix Gel

Thanks for the info rbbb. Is Trimix Gel something new? I don't know why my doc hasn't mentioned it. Yes, I've seen how expensive it is, and my insurance will not cover any ED meds, unfortunately. My ED seems to be psycological for the most part (I think). So, I sometimes need a jump start to get me past the anxiety. Have you experienced any irritation with the gel mix? I've only seen one place on the internet where docs can order a prescription. Is yours prescribed thru a pharmacy?

Re: Trimix Gel

Likewise my Uro and his PA had not heard of Trimix Gel until I brought in the form. But they are enthusiastic that I try it a few times. It has not caused me any irritation at all, but my partner says she can feel irritation (the chemicals can have effect on vaginal lining not unlike those in penis!) -- hence the idea to use the ring thing -- seems to work.

Yep that is the only authorized compounding pharmacy to offer it so they have the market all to themselves and can charge what they want.

Also using it requires a few tedious steps to open, connect the tubes, mix, get it in (add the ring!) etc .. kind of a downer if you are trying to maintain a mood. But it does last an hour or two so plenty of time to start early and keep going afterwards for whatever needs doing..

Re: Trimix Gel

Talked to my Uro about Tri-Mix Gel. He's had a few patients try it. He said they've told him it's just about worthless...oh well...sounded like a good idea...

Re: Trimix Gel

Daxz,

I have since tried the 1000/300/100 formulation a couple of times. Was about the same performance as the weaker (500) version, even with Cialis(20) taken an hour before. Just at edge of usefulness, but no more than that (so far).
