First time posting here... found the site Googling around for my problem...
I'll be as brief as possible. I'm 45 y-o and consider myself generally healthy, although I've been sedentary for many years (started jogging again last Friday). I've never smoked, VERY rarely drink (when I do it's only socially), and try to avoid as much junk and franken-foods as much as possible (though it's hard to avoid either 100% nowadays).
I had basically normal erections all my life, until a very painful break-up many years ago. The break-up was so traumatic for me, so depressing, that my libido all but disappeared when it happened.
It wasn't until like a year later that I tried again with another woman, and made the traumatic discovery that I wasn't able to achieve an erection. That came to me as a shock since it never happened before.
What frustrated me, though, was that there are times when I wake up with a "morning wood," as if everything was fine. Once I become fully awake the erection goes away, unless I stimulate it (and even then it's never lasts the same as before).
There ARE times when, for some reason, I am able to get it hard enough to penetrate, but the erection doesn't last long (2 minutes or less). I think that sums up my general problem nowadays: I'm unable to keep it up long enough, and I also ejaculate faster than before.
Cialis has been incredibly effective at restoring that lost staying ability, but the thought of becoming "dependent" on a drug to be able to function normally bothers me.
Recently (like a month ago), I've started using a penis pump, since I read somewhere that (to my surprise) they were being recommended to treat ED. I'm taking it slow with it and, although I've noticed some promising improvements... I'm wondering if will actually work in the long run.
Although I feel no physical discomfort whatsoever, what happens to me seems closest to what I've read about "venous leakage" on the forums... although, of course, I'm no doctor.
And, no I haven't gone to a doctor about my problem, but that probably should be my next step (although I'm afraid the doctor would just take the easy route and simply give me a prescription for cialis or viagra).
Any suggestion/advice would be welcome.
(Man, now I notice my name is not exactly an inspiring-sounding one in a board like this, lol)
