You are correct jagdm27. My boyfriend is a bodybuilder and has done steroids in the past. It is his testicles only that dwindle in size! Anyway, my boyfriend thinks that being a bodybuilder is as sexy as it can be, but it kind of turns me off sometimes actually. I find myself more attracted to men that are not. It just grosses me out a little when a man is so obsessed with his looks. Also, his legs are HUGE and I'm not that wild about them. His arms are so enormous that he looks uncomfortable! I like bigger and somewhat athletic men (taller, broader shoulders, etc.), but often those guys take it to the extreme & my boyfriend is one of them. It's bad because I had never dated a bodybuilder before him and find myself now attracted to and tempted by (though I would never go there until I ended the relationship 100%) the types of guys that I always dated before.
Lets face it....we live in an image filled world. Everything we do, to some degree, is all about the image! Day after day I see guys going through an "Identity Crisis" just to fit in....and thats fine....we all have to find our spot in this world.
I've been at a gym for 9 years. It is easy to spot guys who are there for a major overhaul of their body because of some insucurity somewhere in their life! People can say its all about health-(which I believe is part of the gym experience)- BUT ..please, we all love the confidence, the beauty and the attention a new body will give us!!...so its not just about health!
Coming out of high school I was 90 pounds soaking wet!...now after lifting ...I look more like a linebacker from a football team! My confidence is set, I have no earth shattering insecurities...but that is now....coming out of HS it was a different story...I was a mess, in search of an identity..the gym helped!
The comedian brought up the "gym-penis-car thing" weeks ago, but I have been hearing about the "nice car sorry about your penis" thing since I can remember! There is truth to that statement...one cannot deny that. Many guys will by a "super car" because they are lacking somewhere in their life and they think the girls will be drooling..(which in many cases will happen..nice car hot girl!)!!..while some would not even think there is any correlation!
Why are some of my best buddies on steriods...they have told me ..they want to be bigger and better than every guy on the planet....more attractive to women! I try to tell them that you look like a bloated, zit infested monster with no hair....honestly...I worry about there health!! The irony here is that they want to be more attractive to women, but they have been having sexual problems and performance issues!!!....steroid related..no doubt!
This is just me thinking out loud after reading all the responses!
Thanks for the awesome posts!
Hi!
Well I'll chime in here. I life weights and have for several years. Until I'd read this thread, I don't recall ever hearing the "big muscles = small penis" statement before. I have heard it about sports cars, which I've always thought was funny. I used to own a couple of sports cars, but I wasn't the "cruise the chicks" type with them. I actually enjoyed driving them on winding country roads (the more curves the better) and challenging myself with speed and maneuverability. I just enjoyed them as machines.
It is my considered opinion, having dealt with people who generally disdain weight lifting, that this comedian has a bit of envy or jealousy going on, and in order to make himself feel better, he creates barbs to belittle others. That is, after all, one of the trademarks of some types of comedies. A real life example would be the physically ugly person who walks around screeching how everybody is so superficial because they are attracted to pretty people. It's self serving, IMHO.
My motivation for weight lifting was to get into shape and feel better. I was severely overweight, and was beginning to get chest pains and couldn't walk a flight of stairs without nearly breaking down. That was 3 years ago, and I was 260 pounds. Now I'm 208 (at 6'3"), very lean and densely packed, and no longer feel like I'm at death's door. Plus, the women flirt with me incessantly now, which is an added bonus that I really enjoy.

Ya know whats funny....I had never heard the analogy before I wrote the post!
The comedian is what started it all! I did hear many times the penis-car-thing ...but never a correlation was made between weights and a mans unit, except for the jokes! What prompted me to ask the question was the response of the women I was with! They all agreed with the jokes!!!....it was their experiences, in their sexual past to say its true!
But we cannot forget that they were basing their opinion on maybe 20 to 25 sexual encounters with bodybuilder-type-men...thats not a number to base an entire planet on, but it gave me an outlet to ask!!
I have kept tabs on this post becuase I was very curious (and still am) as to others opinions on this silly topic. The funny thing is.. the post is still going and people are responding...it doesn't seem to want to go away!
I asked my girlfriend about this one (we're both 18) actually since she had dated a guy who was into bodybuilding and she concurred that he was "below average", whatever that means, in the penis size department. Apparently, this is a hot topic among her and her girlfriends, who I asked her to call, and her girlfriends seem to concur with the generalization that the buffer the body, the smaller the dick. She's gotten to the point now where if she sees a guy with a really ripped, muscular body, she will say something like, "Damn that guy is buff, too bad he has a small dick."
When Gov. Shwarzenagger (sp ?) was running for governor last year, however, she said that she saw a nude pic of him from his bodybuilding days back in the 70's and that he was definitely on the big side of average. She also told me that she went to a party and got drunk and saw this guy's dick that I played baseball with in high school ... wait a minute, that doesn't sound right ... she said that she had gotten drunk and had seen this guy's dick and he happens to be a guy I used to play baseball with in high school and that he had the smallest dick of any guy she had ever seen in her life. LOL So, I think it's probably just a coincidence really, not a correlation or whatever.
I was into bodybuilding for a long time and have average size if not a little above so I don't think there's any correlation.
What I do know for myself is that I got into it because of an insecurity. Most guys (if honest) that bodybuild would tell you they were teased as boys for being skinny or had some 'causative' affect that propelled them into the habit. And habit it can become too, being time consuming and then there's the food, diet supplements, costs and it can take over your life and become an obsession!
My sister dropped her boyfriend because she said he would rather workout 4 times a week religiously than spend time with her and when on holiday he had to find a park and do pull-ups and push-ups as he couldn't even go 2 days without exercise.
My insecurity was that my father abused me and I felt less of a man and until counselling I thought I HAD to bulk up and become HUGE to feel safe I guess.
Since then I've met a wonderful lady who accepts me for me and I no longer feel like I have to hurt myself 4-5 times a week for hours on end just to feel secure about the way I look.
It is a major hang-up thing with a lot of the guys I talked to in the gym and many wished they didn't have to do it as it had cost them in other areas of their lives.
BUT I don't wish to tarnish all with the same brush and if you enjoy it then why not?
I'm just saying I did because of past abuse making me feel less of a man when made to dress like a girl when 4-7 by my father who then hurt and abused me
It took me years to tell anyone this and I have suffered so much because of his cruelty and sickness!
Sorry I've got off topic a bit!

There is no medical or physical correlation. Its just the percieved perception
of the viewer. Plus it makes for good jokes!
A good friend of mine and I have the same size penis...the only difference is
that I am 225, 6 foot 1 and he is skinny, 155, 5 feet 5. Many people would say that my penis looks smaller on me, than on him; when in reality we are the same. Just different bodies
Its all perception....self esteem....this thread has proved that...there is no genetic link!

cosmic, one exception to a rule does not 'blow a theory out of the water', unless the theory is "all bodybuilders have small penises", which I dont think anyone was proposing here.
And jagdm27, this thread has proved nothing about genetic links, it wasn't even about that. You started it yourself, it's about a correlation between bodybuilding and small penises, genetics wasn't mentioned.

Yeah.....I know! I was on the Debate Team for about 2 days..Thats when I punched out a guy who was a smartass, thought he new everything about everything, was cocky and had no life......and then, after my suspension,I played on the offensive line for my high school football team!
Oh well!
Your right about the genetic thing...I mentioned it because some other post
stated something about it, ...I cannot really remember who, but I thought I would put in my two cents!
now i have never thought of my penis size as anything great. Although i do think what the comic said might be funny it isn't fact. Thats what comics do, make things into jokes. I lift weights and like to stay fit, given its not lifting weights for bulk but i just have a fit look, thats it. I am kinda short in stature and have always thought it would hinder me getting a girlfriend. This proved i was looking in all the wrong places as i found one who liked me for my personality and as a person. Although, she did enjoy to find me to be fit and often referred to me as sexy often causing me to feel embarrased because i never thought i was anything like that. Its another story when she saw my penis though. She said that it is the biggest she has ever seen and unto this day she pokes jokes at other guys compared to me. I have always tried to remain modest about it. Btw, she insisted on measuring once when i said i don't know exactly how long it is and she said it was 9 1/2 inches, is that considered normal or what is it?
"muscles don't help! They hinder! Going to the gym to bulk up is just one way some men try to mask the fact that they have small penises. Society would like to believe that men go the gym to impress women, or stay healthy. But in reality, men go to the gym to enlarge their bodies because they can't enlarge their penis! Nothing is more upsetting than watching a Muscle Man competition and seeing some huge, ripped, vascular, tanned Adonis with nothing in his pants! You can bulk up all you want, but don't lie to your self. The bigger the vase, the smaller the flower looks. What's a super sized extra value meal with a small fry?"
Just when I thought this thread was basically "used up", I found this on another board...
"Bigger is better. I've only been with one guy that I'd consider a teenie weenie. He was a weightlifter dood, and I think maybe past steroid use had something to do with it? (just guessing; i've got no proof). Anyhow, when we'd do it, it honestly felt like I was inserting a tampon. No joking. And that's all I could think about, thus ruining the moment. The thing had to be less than 3 inches!"
