My g/f and I are thinking about trying sex in the pool. We have already done it in the shower and it was a GREAT time.

My question is... A friend of my g/f told her that having sex in a pool is dangerous because the chlorine in the pool can get inside of her and cause her to have a BAD infection and be really sick... Is this true?

If it is true, What does the infection/sickness consist of?
Also, Is there anyway to prevent her from getting an infection if this really is true?

The chlorine won't cause an infection, it is the bacteria that may be in the water that the chlorina didn't kill that would cause the infection.

A lot of couples have had sex in the pool without problem. There are also those who got sick and there is no way to know in advance if she will be one of the unlucky ones.

I guess you need to determine what your tolerance for risk is.

The penis acts like a piston when thrusting underwater. It can force water past the cervix, possibly leading to infection and what-not.

Besides, water doesn't work so well as a sexual lubricant.

Don't get your hopes up. I guess it works for some people, but when my husband and I tried it, we could only get it in about half way. There was no lube at all. It wasn't as fun as we thought it would be.

Here's the deal on sex in the water. Generally speaking, water disolves or rinses away a woman's natural lubricant, so there is a lot of almost "squeaky" kind of friction, that would cause problems like the previous poster who was unable to "get it in". HOWEVER, my wife and I used to have sex frequently and for a good long time in both our pool and hot tub. (we still have sex, but we moved and don't have a pool / tub at our new house). THE SOLUTION IS to put plenty of heavy petroleum-based lube on your penis and it doesn't hurt to put it in her vagina as well. Because it's very thick and tends to adhere well to skin, it will stay on you and you can have sex in the water with no problem and it is a lot of fun finding new positions, etc using the bouyancy of the water. Go for it! You will enjoy it. Remember, use plenty of vaseline.
