Masturbation/sex & palpitations - Sexual Health - General Message Board

Hello all! I am new to this board and this is my first post.. anyway here it is:

I am a 23yo Male. Basically I am suffering from palpitations every single day of my life now, they first started occuring when I was about 13 years old. From that point I only ever used to get them SOMETIMES and only mildly, after I either masturbated, or had done too much exercise. In the last 6 - 12 months, my condition has seriously worsened, every day I have missed beats and when they get really bad they will skip every THIRD beat, sometimes they will also do a double beat or even three beats but quite rare with the three's.

I have had all the tests done by the hospital and gone to visit a Cardiologist and they both think that I am "fine", however clearly I am not fine otherwise I wouldn't be posting here!

Now, my main question for this post, because I have not been able to find out anywhere else on the internet in relation to my question is: Does anyone here (preferably males) suffer from extreme palpitations/pvcs after masturbation/sex etc, because I do and its driving me nuts, its so bad that I can't do those 2 things anymore, period, and this is very bad because I'm a very sexually active 23yo male!!! the cardiologist reckons that I need to see a shrink about it but I seriously think it is more than that. I seriously need help and do not know where to turn now. I feel like I will never have sex again and have to put up with these palps for the rest of my life.

Mind you on a bad day I could skip easily over 200 - 400 beats
for some reason after ejaculation my palps will be bad for the next day or two and will be 10x worse than normal and if I exercise it will be worse even again, also when I eat now, I will get a ton of palps on a full stomach, ESPECIALLY if I am moving around at work.. this never used to happen to me ever !!!!!

because of all these events that have transpired I now suffer from chronic anxiety and unfortunately, depression is starting to kick in too I believe because its messing up my life

can anyone tell me what is going on?? I just don't know what to do anymore, personally I just want a new body because I'm OVER THIS.

Hey bud, I don't suffer from those, never have. Sure, there'll be increased heart rate and the "recovery time" from the activity...but nothing like what you describe. If there is no physical cause according to your doc...then discussing this with someone probably is the way to go. Sounds like you're really concerned (I would be too) and that you've got yourself backed into a corner over it and that is making it worse. At 23 you don't even need to think that you'll never have sex or masturbate again...that anxiety is too much for anyone to figure out. Do yourself a favor, make an appointment and address this with someone who can help you work through it. There are some diagnosable sexual things that can be treated with therapy...I'm wondering if that is some of what is going on here. Make that appointment bud and keep us posted. Doesn't have to be a psychiatrist to begin with, look for a psychologist or someone who deals with sexuality matters. You'll work through this and be fine, I'm sure!

If you've had the tests, you're fine. It honestly sounds to me like anxiety. I have the exact same symptoms when I'm feeling anxious... and you are clearly *deeply* anxious. I know how it is to be afraid there's something really physically wrong, but I think you'll be surprised - and relieved - at how your emotional state can affect your health (and/or your perception of your health). I wholeheartedly agree that seeing a therapist is the next step. Therapy and medication can change your life :-)

Oh - plus I forgot to mention that it would be VERY unusual for you to have a significant heart problem at your age - particularly one that causes the symptoms you perceive. I also think you'd have other, more serious symptoms if this really were a physical issue.
