What is considered normal???

hey there

this is gonna sound really silly but its really bothering me.

What do people consider to be normal pubic hair? texture? appearance?

Because mine is all over the place...very coarse in certain places and more hairs than other parts and just basically horrible to me...and I'm scared to be naked in front of my boyfriend.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Re: What is considered normal???

I'd say you are perfectly normal! Some people tend to keep it trim or even shave. If you have any concerns I'd say just trim it a bit so it looks right to you. I'm sure you're fine just the way it is.

Re: What is considered normal???

You said this is because of concerns about being naked in front of your boyfriend.

jv109 is right; you are perfectly normal. To give you an idea as to what things could look like, you could do a 'bikini test'.

Do you want to wear a bikini?

Most people do not want pubic hair to show if they wear bikini briefs.

How trimmed or clean/shaven they are would depend on how skimpy the briefs would be that they want to wear.

If you plan on going with 'bloomers ( i.e. more modest ) type briefs you probably have nothing to worry about; but if you want to wear a bikini ( and eliminate any concerns about appearance of pubic hair ), you might want or need to shave or trim a bit.

Re: What is considered normal???

I only wear a bikini in the summer.

So its normal that my hair is mainly straight? and theres larger amounts in certain places. Sometimes I trim it and because its so matted and horrible in some places it still goes in funny shapes lol

Re: What is considered normal???

I really don't think there is a standard type of hair, everyone is different from very fine blonde, to black course pubes. If you do not like them shave-um off I am sure you will not get complaints from your boyfriend and you will not be more self confident. I like it that way and alot of guys I know do also

What about bikini style briefs ( i.e. underwear ) ?

if your pubic hair grows straight ( i.e. ) 'looks long' maybe you could just trim it. If you are concerned that would make it 'bristly' , you could just shave it...

Don't know, but in case area might be more of a concern than growth:

For outer areas away from the vagina, it seems you could definitely shave/shape without much problem...for example, I have neck hair that grows down from the base of the back of my head/scalp, that I like to shave whenever I notice it is growing in...

If it's any consolation to you, sometimes my pubic hair will clump together in spots, in the form of 1 or 2 thick, dark curls, they'll be near what then seems like bare areas. I just 'frizz' them with my fingers and they go away and then everything looks 'uniform'.

Re: What is considered normal???

Thanks.

Yep..I'm always wearing small underwear because I wear low down jeans.

Yeah I have an area at the top of the lips that is very coarse and theres more hair there than other places...and it all clumps together and sticks out. When I try and trim it..because its all over the place its all different. I make it sound like a horror story lol its just me being conscious about myself.

rainbowsister, you sound totally fine. As you have said, I think you are being a bit overly self conscious about yourself.

Re: What is considered normal???

rainbowsister, another vote for keeping your pubic hair the way it is. Its just you being self conscious.

As for being self conscious myself, unlike ethera, I'm pretty small down there. Nothing shows through! I trim my pubic hair but just so it looks like I've got more than what I do.

Re: What is considered normal???

I think any type of hair and any amount is normal. Everyone is different. For me, i'm 18, and I shave it all off. It's a personal choice. You kind of just have to play around with it to see what fits you best. Don't do anything that makes you uncomfortable just because you're worried about what your bf will think. Just do it because you want to.

Re: What is considered normal???

Thats true everyone is different and always hates something about themselves. How would you feel if you were a redhead with red pubic hair? hehehe! Which I shave so it doesnt really matter!
