Mental health and "doing it"

Are there any mental health benefits or dangers associated with "doing it", you know ("doing it" with yourself)?

What are the psychiatric aspects of it?

I have some mental health problems, like anxiety. Is "doing it" beneficial or harmful to a person who needs anxiety-medication?

If you mean masturbation, there are no ill-effects....unless you literally become sex addicted. As a matter of fact, sex, masturbation and orgasm in general is a great stress reliever and feels great!

It really has nothing to do with that. It's a completely different thing all together.

There's no psychological ramifications to masturbating. It's a normal thing that everyone does over the course of their lives, and people who claim they have never done it are totally lying. It's about as normal as breathing.

The only time it gets to be a problem is when it's all the person ever does and it begins to take over their time and their life. When it becomes an obsession, then it's a problem.

Otherwise, it's not a big deal and there is no reason to make it into one. People are way too hung up on the stigma of masturbation when in reality it's something that is extremely common among everyone, although people don't discuss it among themselves because it's still a very personal thing.
