No, you can't get pregnant during your period, especially if you are on the pill. An egg is not released then (or ever). You are shedding the lining of your uterus. There isn't any way for a pregnancy to occur, much less be sustained.
There is one scenario that could happen, though, although it is far-fetched. If you were NOT on the pill, and had unprotected sex near the end of your period AND ovulated really early, you could conceivably (no pun intended) become pregnant because sperm can live inside your reproductive tract for 2-5 days. But since you're on the pill it should not be a worry.
If it makes you feel better, my husband and I have used withdrawal only as a birth control method for the past 14 years and never had an accidental pregnancy. The two times I wanted to get pregnant it happened on the first try. Now, I'm not advocating anyone reading this to ditch their birth control methods in favor of withdrawal... I'm just pointing out that withdrawal + the pill should leave you with no worries at all. |
