bleeding while on depo shot - Sexual Health - General Message Board

ok i have been on teh Depo shot for about 6 monthes now. and here and there i start bleeding but it is not red it is brown. im kinda worried about it. it happends about once a week or sometimes it will be longer before it happends. when it does it is just a little bit. what should i do about this?

I think you should talk to your dr about using a different kind of birth control. I was on depro and had the same thing...altho i had my period for 7 months straight. Sometimes it was that brown colour gross looking. I had to come off the shot obviously, but you might want to talk to your dr, and see what he/she suggests. It might not be anything to worry about.

The depo shot has many long term side effects so I too would agree that you would be wise to consider a different birth control. From things I have read and long distance friends that were on it I get the impression a lot of doctors don't know enough about it because when the docs are shown the horrendous long term effects it can cause the usually say "if I had known I would have never put you on this."
