Just out of curiosity as i've seen from many posts that it's advisable to give oral with a condom on lest you are 105% sure that your male partner is hygienic and healthy thus "safe".

what about female's protection if a guy wanna give oral to her? i also learnt from the "Herpes" board that there's "oral herpes" (?!). will it be sufficiently good to get the guy to gargle with Listerine before oral sex takes place? (- i guess not). will bad breath/gum be an indication of unhygienic mouth, therefore "unfit" for unprotected oral?

You use a product called a dental dam. It is a thin shield that fits over the vagina for oral sex.

Having him use listerene would be a good idea as far as protecting yourself from getting a bacterial infection if he is unhygenic with dental care, but if he does have oral herpes (cold sores/fever blisters), it wouldn't give any protection from that. Also, keep in mind that it is estimated that 80% of the population has oral herpes (but most people don't get symptoms), and it is possible to spread it even if there are no symptoms present.

As someone said the use of a dental dam (which is just a small sheet of latex) placed over your labia and clitoris should provide this protection.

If you cant find dental dams then unroll a clean condom and cut it from the base to the tip. Then, simply open it up and use it the same way a dental dam would be used.

If neither is available you can you SaranWrap or a similar product.
