Natural Supplements for Erection

Do any actually work? Has anyone ever tried them as an alternative to Viagra? I'm very curious.

Here's what the natural supplement claimed:

Yohimbe has long been known as a strong and effective natural aphrodisiac.

The active component is called 'Yohimbine', an alkaloid, that blocks adrenergic receptors, and enables the blood vessels to increase in dilation, which brings erections to men. Yohimbe also increases the production of norephrine in the body, and norephrine is an essential substance needed to formate erections. Yohimbe may increase the adrenaline supply to nerve endings boosting sensual stimulation, especially in men.

In fact a prescription drug, yohimbine hydrochloride, is the only FDA approved drug for impotence.

Effects can include:

- increase blood flow to the genitals, both male and female

- increased libido

- increased sensation

- increased stamina

- increased satisfaction and desire

- women have also reported similar effects and general pleasant sensations

What is the name of the supplement you guys are taking? I am tired of injecting myself to have sex. I don't want to use Viagra either.

Re: Natural Supplements for Erection

Well the supplement I was looking at is called Yohimbe. It's supposed to increase blood flow into your penis. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm thinking about buying it as an alternative to Viagra. I'm wondering if anyone else has tried it.

I've also read it can be dangerous if taken with certain food. I really need more info on this.

If Yohimbe really worked then drug companies would be selling a special concentrated form of it at the same price as viagra.....but they aren't so you can pretty much guess the conclusion. Most scientific studies have shown only a small effect for a small group of men.

If you can't get erect at all I don't think any of them will help, but if you can and just have trouble getting real hard or staying hard I recommend the amino acid L-Argenine. It's available in any vitamin or drug store. Take 2500 to 4000mg 45 minutes before sex and it will help make/keep you harder with no side effects.

Agreed! 3-4000 mg of L-arginine prior to sex has made a world of difference for me.

Ummm, did you know that, before viagra, yohimbine was a perscription drug for ED? Not as well advertised as V, I guess, but it was there. I had taken yohimbe on occassion before talking with my dr. He said, yes, it was used before viagra, but viagra has fewer and less severe side effects. Yohimbe increases blood flow - PHEW!! I can attest to that. I had huge hardons when taking the full 780mg non-standardized supplement. Actually, though, other times, it was only average. But, what happened with me is that I couldn't sleep afterwards - yohimbe is a strong stimulant. I guess if you're going to go for 8 hours and didn't care about sleep, it would be OK, but for those of us who have to work the next day...it just wasn't a pleasant experience getting out of bed at 3am and reading to try to fall asleep. So, my dr said that V has less side effects. One side effect that seems to be the same is the need to urinate. Yohimbe gave me a strong urge to urinate a few times during a 1 hour sex romp - a bit frustrating. Viagra does too, though less intensely. I found that if I didn't drink my customary glass of water between dinner and bedtime, the urge was greatly lessened.

BTW, I took yohimbe about 2 hours before the action started. I also broke the pills at times and that was sufficient to get me hard enough for penetration. Both drugs gave me 'steel pipes' at full doseage (50mg Viagra and one full tablet of yohimbe, whatever the yohimbine doseage was, I dunno). Please pay attention to the cautions on yohimbe, and don't take too much, as this could cause priatism (sp?). If I was going to buy more, I'd look for a standardized extract containing around 10mg yohimbine.

And, just because something isn't obtained through a perscription doesn't mean it isn't a drug. Like I said, the active ingredient in yohimbe is perscribed as a drug. Actaully, I read that over 25% of perscription drugs are actually merely the active ingredient of natural remedies. The lines blur and we take matters into our own hands...be careful out there.

Last thing, like viagra, yohimbe does not increase libido. It only works on blood flow to the penis. Also, I've heard that women should not use it.

Re: Natural Supplements for Erection

The best natural cure is to get back and maintain your health.

Stop smoking, drink less (or not at all), get exercise daily, eat less and eat more healthy.

If you do this you most likely will "cure" any problems you have. If not see your doctor or a specialist.

Johnx is right about most points on "Yohimbine". Before the days of Viagra, the first drug prescribed to me by my doctor for erectile dysfunction was Yohimbine. Since then I have tried Viagra, & injections, but yohimbine remains the old stand by and not because of price. Johnx relates to all of the hyperness and sleep problems which are exactly correct, however I have found that even though doctors deny that it has an aphrodiasiac effect, in my case it does have very much. It definitely does raise my sex drive. Viagra does not raise my sex drive. It only relaxes the smooth muscles of the penis, which allows the blood to rush in and fill the penis. In my case it does'nt even do that very well at all.

Yohimbine is cheap which explains on the other hand why drug companies would rather sell their Viagra and Cialais at $8 to $12 dollars a whack! You can get good quality Yohimbine at [deleted]. One tablet 2-3 hours before intercourse does wonders for me with no sleep deprovation.

Re: Natural Supplements for Erection

I don't know if Yoho and nitrate together would be safe. I've never heard of any complications. I would'nt want to do it without checking with your doctor because yoho does raise your blood pressure temporarily.
