This is something that never even occurred to me until recently, but when the penis is erect, should the head be hard too? Mine gets bigger obviously as the rest of the penis does, but never seems any harder.The shaft gets stiff but the head feels about the same softness but increased in size.
Is this normal?
And if it is, why is this so? I would have thought a hard penis head would have aided penetration rather than hindered it.

That sounds normal to me too! the head of the penis is just a big Glan to expand as it fills up with blood then after it gets pretty big & full....it can go back down as it is penatrateing with the presure from entering the vagina thats why some times girls say it hurts...going in to fast... without lube will hurt any woman if she not wet or ready to accomadate the penis!....under the head is uaually the most senstive. theres name for it but I can't think of it?
the only way to make your penis head hard after errection is just grab the shaft and squees it pulling it in a downward position and hold...then the head will get hard...but thats bout the only way I know! but as soon as you take your hand off it will get kinda soft agian....just experiment a little.
the head of the penis is spongy soft because it has to give a little when entering the vagina....guess thats the reason its not as hard as the shaft!

Sounds normal. I'm the same: my head gets larger when I'm erect but not as rigid as the shaft. You only have erectile tissue in your shaft, so this makes sense.
When mine erects, the head enlarges and is spongy soft on the outside, just like you guys'. But a light press is all it takes to feel the hard, engorged blood chambers continuing into the glans.
