Erection problems months after TURP

My husband had a TURP done in June of this year and it was very successful. He had in a catheter for nearly a year previous to the surgery because of an enlarged prostate and complications from rectal cancer surgery.

Not long after the TURP surgery, he was able to get complete control of his bladder and could maintain an erection, all of which was a relief to him. However, for the past few weeks, he has no longer been able to maintain an erection and we are surprised seeing as it was all working so well for 5 months before.

Has anyone had this experience? I am suggesting that if this continues and if it bothers him alot, then he should see his urologist, but meantime I am just looking for any possible advice or comments.

Re: Erection problems months after TURP

I don't know why the erection can no longer be maintained. I think he should see a urologist. It may be that he needs Viagra now to maintain an erection. I had a TUIP on the prostate and now need Viagra but get a very hard erection. I would recommend that he try Viagra as it works very well for me. Good luck.

Re: Erection problems months after TURP

I had turp surgery about 15 yr ago, no problems afterward with erections. I do take viagra now, but I'm 57 yr old, been using viagra several years, I found its a big help, no that I had to have it.
