Need advice on approaching an doctor about my penis

Hi, I'm about to turn 20 and I feel that my penis has been holding me back for quite a bit. I feel so bad (wording changed: Use proper language only...no slang terms.). I never really had a girlfriend because I'm too afraid of what the girl will think of my penis.

My penis basically looks like a antelope...has about half a inch just hanging after the tip of my penis. I shower daily but yet therse always a smelliness there which makes me even worried about what girls will think. Everytime I goto the bathroom, I try wiping it and even pulling the skin back while I ****...but theres still always that little stinge.

BUTTT the main thing that really bothers me and kills my confidence with woman is that when I'm erected, I can't pull my skin back. SO my penis is really funny looking. All I do is want to pull it back while erection and make it look normal so I don't freak out the girl I'm with.

So what I really need is is some way to make my foreskin retractable. I want to consult a doctor but have no clue where I start. I mean how do I setup an appointment? I mean do I call and say "Hi, I like a doctor to check out my penis???" ..Also is there a certain kind of doctor that I have too ask for? IS my health insurance (tufts) okay?

Thanks bobby

Re: Need advice on approaching an doctor about my penis

You obviously have an uncircumcised penis and that is perfectly normal. However, being unable to retract the foreskin (the skin that covers your penis head - known as the "glans") is an issue which you should discuss with a doctor.

A family physician should be able to help you with this and if he can't, then you'll need to see a urologist - which is a specialist who focuses on the urinary and reproductive systems.

As far as what to say when you call, you could always make an appointment with a family practitioner and ask for a complete physical. When you're with the doctor in the exam room, you can mention your concern about your foreskin.

Or, you can find a urologist and tell them upfront why you're making an appointment. Believe me, you can trust the people at a doctor's office... they've heard plenty of medical issues and your's is not that unique.

I'm also fairly certain that the smell results from your inability to retact your foreskin and clean your glans. Again, a doctor will better be able to analyze your issue.

Re: Need advice on approaching an doctor about my penis

I would check out the sticky regarding stretching the foreskin, posted at the top of the Men's Health board here. There are some excellent instructions, which have helped many men. If you follow the instructions consistently, you should be able to pull the foreskin back completely, erect or flaccid, in six to eight weeks.
Don't worry about the overhang. That is perfectly normal, for a large percentage of men. The last drop thing is a feature of being human. It happens to males and females, moreso to males, because the urethra is longer. If it really bothers you, you can milk the penis, by closing the urethra with a pinch, close to your body, and moving your thumb and fingers down to the urinary opening.

Yes please try my instructions first. In the US a doctor may recommend circumcision as a first option when stretching could have cured the problem. Circumcision should only be a last resort treament for tight foreskin, not the first.

Re: Need advice on approaching an doctor about my penis

First just want to say Sorry for the improper use of language and thank you for all the replies.

I was planning to go see a physician to ask for some stretching ointment?? I really don't plan on gettin a circumcision ever which is why I really want some stretching ointment. I felt like I tried the stretching tips on this thread already and it doens't seem to work.

The thing is tthat I don't think its the skin thats too tight, its probably a tight frenumlum (sp?) I haven't followed the directions given on this board for that issue....so I'm going to try in the next couple of weeks?

I know this is a vague question, but if possible ...do any of you have an idea how long it takes for it to retract easily and comfortably when trying to do the stretching routines.

When I try pulling it back as of now i see some bright red lil spots that HURT when I try touching it. Even a little tap on the spots (like 2-3 of them) it will hurtt...these spots are not bumps so I have no clue what it is.

Thanks
Bobby

Re: Need advice on approaching an doctor about my penis

The time varies a lot from person to person, from weeks to a few months. The glans is going to be supersensitive, from being covered all the time and will slowly improve the more direct stimulation it gets. I don't know what the dots are but the pain when the glans is touched is typical for guys who can't retract.
Hope that helps a little. Good luck getting the cream and with stretching the frenulum. Remember to try the pulling forward method for the frenulum as well as pulling back and that goes for the two finger method for stretching the opening too.
Cheers,
Geoff

Re: Need advice on approaching an doctor about my penis

Hey bobby Im 20 too and believe me when I say more than one doctor has seen my manhood and another one is going to check it out at the end of next month. I dont have the same problem as you, I have mysterious bumps which nobody can really identify 100% ...its much harder to since Im 110% virgin as well. Dont hesitate to go to your doctor, if there is anyone u can talk to about it its your doctor. Just pretend your going in to tell him about something being wrong with your arm. "There's something about my penis I would like you to check out". Thats wat he is there for.
