Ongoing painful erection -- please help!!!

I'm reposting this because I felt I should have gotten a response from this earlier inquiry...

I am a 40 year old male who recently developed what can best be described as a sharp pain/strain in my penis during erection. The pain is located deep in the urethra, just below the glans. It feels like a crushing pain/strain, or mild burning sensation, and is especially pronounced when I contract the muscles in my lower groin. It is consistent during erection and relieved whe the erection subsides. It has been ongoing for the past 3-4 weeks.

Someone previously mentioned diabetes as a possible cause but I'm not clear of the connection.

I'd appreciate any input. Thanks!
