I am 33 male uncircumcised. I have torn my frenulum. I have never
had any problems in the past other than this area getting sore ever
now and then. It didnt appear to be getting any better so I went to
my family doctor today. He said all I could do is let it heal and it
would take a couple of weeks. The pain is bad and at night while
asleep when I get an erection I am woke by the pain.
I am suppose to see a urogolist Thurday. I have read alot about
having the frenulum cut and also about a procedure to lengthen the
frenulum.
I was able to pull the skin back before and it on pulled on the head
when it was fulled pulled back.
I have saw on picture on the internet showing where the fernulum has
been lengthened but can not find a picture of what my penis might
look like if I just get the frenulum cut or snipped.
I dont know what the Urologis is going to say but I really dont want
to go through this pain ever again!!!!
Also a surgeon who is a member at the health club and a friend told
me just to let it heal and if it wasnt beeter in a week in a half or
so come see him....he just mentioned doing a circumcision.
I really dont think I want to be circumcised but I sure want to try
and conveince a doctor to do something more than just let this heal
and have it happen again. I read that after this happens once it is
sure to happen again and that also the scar tissue will make the
frenulum even shorter.
ANY FEEDBACK WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!!
THanks
Shay

scar tissue makes the frenulum stronger, and less likely to tear in the future.
it sounds like your frenulum is a bit on the short side, but normal.
there is no guarantee that it will not ever tear again, whether you have it cut, or lengthened, or leave it alone. a circumcision fixes the problem, by removing the entire area, typically. I don't think this is what you are going for, since that area is so exquisitely sensitive.
mine tore badly. it took a long time to heal. it never tore again.
best of luck to you.

After your torn did it scar back shorter? Did it grow back together or do you have skin hanging there now?
I am really worried about this. I went to a urologist yesterday . He was a young doctor, younger than me, he said I needed to consider circumcision. He never mentioned any other solution... I really would like to keep my skin if possible, I think it will be a total change for me and for my wife...I might be wrong but I am very concerned...
THanks for your reply!!

Get a second opinion! Holy cow.
And make sure you're dealing with a foreskin-friendly doc. Getting a circumcision for having a short frenulum is like ... hitting a fly with a cannon (or some expression like that). You don't have to take this guy's word for it, even if he is a doctor.
It's a shame that so many doctors suggest circumcision at the drop of a hat without explaining the whole procedure or give you other options, just remember once it's gone it's gone.

I am circumcised so I can't say I know exactly what you are going through but I wouldn't be so quick to discount what the doctor is recommending. A short frenulum might be corrected by a steroid cream or possibly by a frenoplasty. (A frenoplasty is where they split the frenulum and sew it back together to try and get more length.)
The problem with frenulum breve is healing is complicated due to the moist condition of the area. Also, the torn frenulum results in healing with scar tissue which is less flexible after the incident causing further difficulties.
The reason your doctor is probably discussing circumcision is that it is sure to alleviate your problem and has no side effects. The worst thing would be the week or so of recovery.
Well I have done it I guess......It is totally gone!!!! The fernulum tore all the way. I just thought I was ready for sex and well it tore all the way. There is just a little sting now attached...
Will it grow back and reattach???? If it doesnt I guess I wont have any more problems with it.....It bleed just a little and is a little sore but thats it.
It hurt and bleed much more when I had just the samll tear.
I tore mine many years back during some rough sex. It was swollen for weeks and I was worried that I had an infection but it healed and (like the doctor said) sex was actaully better than ever. I'd recommend it for anyone!
