Penis gets damaged real easy

I don't know why, but for a long time now (over a year) my penis seems to be damaged real easily. After kind of any sexual activity, my penis the next day becomes red/itchy and dry, and sometimes there are lesions all around. It stays like that for a while. Sometimes it's not too bad, and sometimes it's really bad, but it's always there. There has been a couple of instances where it stayed like that for over 3 weeks. Let me tell you, it's no fun. Drives me crazy, and i feel like the only way i can overcome it is to stop all sexual activity, which i don't really want to do obviously.

It's not like i have sex or masturbate really hard/rough or anything, i always try and do everything extra easy so i'll be in less pain the next day. What i'm suspecting is that it's due to a skin condition i have known as Atopic Dermatitis. From what i've read it's not too uncommon to get it on your genitals. I think there's a 95% chance that's the cause of it though. I'll probably need to go see a doctor, which i've been trying to avoid for a long time. Even then i don't think they can treat it, just like all kinds of atopic dermatitis, there is no cure unfortunately.

So am I out of luck? Anything i could possibly do? It's been awful. I've had to cut down on my sex life A LOT just so i won't be in pain all of the time. Please help if you can.

Re: Penis gets damaged real easy

Is this damage to the foreskin and glans or are you circumcised? I ask because I wonder if you have a thrush or fungal infection which may make the foreskin and the area it protects more easily damaged.

Re: Penis gets damaged real easy

I hate to freak you out but it sounds like you may have herpes to me. After recently being infected with it, I've gotten to "know" herpes very well! Herpes is nothing like we assume it is. It can have many different faces. Getting easily irritated after sex and having an OB(outbreak) after sex is very common and for many sex is what triggers an OB of herpes. Another possibility is a bacterial infection. You need to go to the doctor and be tested for herpes just to be on the safe side because you definately could have it from the symptoms you are describing!

Re: Penis gets damaged real easy

I'm almost certain it's not herpes.

Which doctor should i see, like a dermatoligist? Or just a regular doctor? Like i said i'm pretty sure it's due to my atopic dermatitis

Re: Penis gets damaged real easy

It could be a yeast infection. If it is, anything over the counter for womens' yeast should work. Other than that, I would see a dermatologist.

Re: Penis gets damaged real easy

I went to the doctor yesterday, he agreed that it was due to my Atopic Dermatitis. Didn't seem like he spent much time thinking about it, i kinda wish he would of maybe put more thought into it, he just gave me more topical cream stuff that i already had. I was hoping it wouldn't be due to my atopic dermititis, but i guess that's it. Hope they find a cure soon, or else i'm gonna have to get my whole 'man area' removed, it's been prolongued torture. I've already given up sexual activity of any kind.

Re: Penis gets damaged real easy

Did you TELL him that you've stopped all sexual activity, etc? If you didn't stress how serious the problem is, he probably didn't feel it was serious. In any case, I'd seek a specialist's (dermatologist) opinion.
