Has anyone seen a urologist for ED? Need some advice

Hi I have ed and am going to a urologist next monday. I have some questions/concerns.

The weird thing about my problem is that once a while I could get pretty good erections, but not at all at other times. There seems to be some cycling. One of the doctors I've seen thus concluded that I don't have no physical problems, which I strongly disagree with. I hope to get checked PHYSICALLY this time. Should I tell the urologist the truth or not? Basically I can tell him every little detail but I'm afraid he'd be like you're young you don't have any real problems. (I'm 20). I want HIM to find out if I have a physical problem, not give me some stereotyped bs.

I'm also thinking about writing down what I want to say so I won't leave out anything. Would you recommend that?

I would seriously write down everything that you want to discuss with him, I always do because before; I would leave his office and on the way home think "oh blast" I forgot to mention this.

Also make sure he covers everything you want to talk about, so often they like to cut the appoinment short and ask you to make another appointment. Many doctors forget that we are hiring them, so we can also fire them!!

Yes write it down to help you remember. How the doctor responds is very dependant on the doctor. Each will be different so there is no way to predict it. I would tell him everything though to give him the best chance to diagnose it.

Do you have good nighttime and/or morning erections? Do you have good libido when you are unable to have a good erection?

No my morning erections have been significantly weaker to almost nothing since having ed. It seems rather physical..I don't know about nighttime erections. I doubt they would be any better...I used to wake up with an erection almost every morning, now it's a good memory to pee with one...never happened anymore.

As for libido it may be somewhat better when I'm able to get a good erection. I don't think it matters...I always have the urge to look at porn. T, thyroid and prolactin tested fine. I did some further tests (some other hormones) just last week and have yet to see the results. Also my glans has been pretty numb...not sure when this started though.

Make sure Estrodial is not too high also, if too high (over 35 or so) it can cause problems like this.

The doc said during my visit he would test for a female hormone too, when I asked. I believe it's estradiol...will call to ask his office tomorrow.

Of course you should tell the urologist the truth. Every doctor needs complete and truthful information, or you'd be wasting your time and his (or hers).

I would expect a urologist to examine your penis if you came in with a complaint of ED. You could also say right out that your last doctor did not examine you physically, and you are coming in to have that done.

To answer the question in your subject line, yes I have seen a urologist for ED. After a few minutes of questions he had me drop my pants so he could examine me. Wouldn't you know, by the time he had finished examining my penis I was completely erect! I was not only embarrassed, I thought he might discount everything I had said and just send me away. I told him I was sorry, that I didn't usually become erect that easily, and he reassured me that this kind of thing happens in his office all the time. He still prescribed a treatment for me.

Good luck, and let us know how you make out.

If you take hair growth meds or anti-depressants this will cause the same problem.

For some guys it takes many months for the sexual desire & performance to come back after stopping the meds. They mess up your hormone balances
