Yeast Infection

I think I have a slight yeast infection on the head of my penis. It has the symptoms of dry / red rash and a cheese smell so I'm guessing this is pointing towards a yeast infection?

If so what over the counter products would be suitable? Also Is it okay for a man to use female products?

Thanks.

Re: Yeast Infection

Well, I would try anything until I was sure it was a yeast infection. Are you uncircumcized and, if you are, what you see as a yeast infection could be smegma, which is not yeast, but a build-up of sweat, semen, and other stuff that should go away with proper hygiene.

If you are circumsized, then I would not think it's yeast at all, as most yeast infection occur in moist places, like vaginas, the mouth, etc.

Re: Yeast Infection

A red scaly rash on the glans is consistent with a yeast infection called balanitis. It is caused by the same yeast, Candida, that affects women. Some Lotrimin or a generic antifungal (any cream that ends in -azole is antifungal) should work after a week or two.
