Masturbating - Healthly Not to Do It?

Hello everyone.

I am currently 18 and have been masturbating since I was 13. During those years I enjoyed masturbating but recently, I have made some decisions about my life and would like to quit.

However, I am concerned about quitting and what problems might arise if I did quit. By quitting, would I be causing any health problems, especially with my prostate or testicals? I guess another way to phrase the question is what are some of the advantages of masterbating, health wise? Has anyone ever come across any information about this? I've tried looking online but this yielded very little.

Thanks in advance.

I can tell you some of the advantages of masturbating; I'm 76 yrs. old and and started when about 14 or so. It certainly has relieved much stress and kept my prostate healthy, average about once a week now. I too wonder why you would want to quit now.

Moral reasons mostly.

However, like I stated, if by not doing it causes health issues, then it's another story.

sweetie - you're not doing anything immoral, and if anybody tells you otherwise, they don't know what they're talking about.

Anyone in the medical field will promote frequent masturbation. The semen carries dangerous toxins that can be harmful to your prostate. Keep at it!

First off, I see the thread got moved and I want to apoligize for posting in the wrong section.

After reading your response, it got me thinking so I headed online to do some research on this topic. As it turns out, there are many threads about this issue, especially on catholic forums. From what I have read, the jury is still out on this topic. I'd say 1/2 say it's ok and the other 1/2 say it's not. One thing that did catch my attention was what really makes this a sin is what is thought about while masterbating. Certain thoughts could be considered lustful and therefore the thought and the action (in this case masterbation) becomes a sin.

I'll stop there being this is a health forum and I don't mean for this to turn into a religious debate. As such, I am a catholic and I just recently found out that masterbation is considered a sin. Heh. 18 years as a catholic and I just find out about this now.

Overall though, I guess one thing about being young is I still have a lot to learn and figure out. My goal is to be a devoute catholic but at the same time I don't want to do something, or not do something, that will cause health problems. Thus the reason for this thread.

Didn't know this thread went onto another page. My mistake.

This is something I had feared. Awhile back I had found out that the male body consistently makes semen. At first I thought having this build up could not be healthly but then I decided to think that the body must have some way of getting rid of the extra semen. Guess my thinking was wrong.

Okay, let's think about this for a minute...

Since the biological purpose of semen is to carry sperm to fertilize the female's egg, what on earth would Mother Nature be planning if semen really "carries dangerour toxins"??? The plan is to give women the dangerous toxins??? Something tells me this might be a bit off, lol.

But seriously, a properly functioning male body is supposed to make sperm and get rid of it on a regular basis. This is how it works. If you aren't having regular sex (in a non-sinful way ), then your body should get rid of it in another way. If you don't masturbate, you will most likely end up having wet dreams after a while.
Think of it as simply keeping your plumbing in working order.

Re: Masturbating - Healthly Not to Do It?

hi,
I ask a Doctor a couple years ago if masterbating would hurt you health wise?..he said ''no..''just help your health wise'' was his reply.

AS FOR AS IT BEING A SIN ? I AGREE IT IS A SIN IF YOUR HAVING THOUGHTS OF BEING WITH SOME ONE... PORN STARS OR MOVIE STARS ECT,,ECT,,
BUT IF YOUR HAVING THOUGHTS OF THE ONE YOU LOVE EVEN BEFORE MARRIGE I DON'T SEE ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT.
I MEAN HOW ELSE CAN YOU GET AN ERECTION IF YOU DON'T THINK ABOUT OTHER WOMEN..UNLESS YOUR GAY?
BUT JUST THINK OF THE ONE YOU LOVE...IS MY POINT.
LUST IS A SIN BUT NOT WITH THE ONE YOU LOVE.

No, nothing will happen physically if you stop masturbating. The body is very good at getting rid of excessive semen.

I applaud you taking a moral stand for yourself.

Before making your decision, do some research. I don't think it's apropriate to post links on here but, you can find info. on your semen and the carcinogens that it carries. Good luck!:wave
